I found this beautiful video on Campfire. It was done in 2000. I am sure many have seen this already. For lack of adjective creativity, I think this is simply beautiful.

The YouTube Link:

Or this link (clearer):

http://www.vortex.is/festival/video/sigur_ros-vidrar-video.asf

And here is a little info about it.

The video tells the obvious story but does anyone know what "Viðrar vel til loftárása" means? It is Icelandic.

I thought it was too bizarre to mean that so I thought you were joking. Me so sorry. Me love you long time.

AND the link is awesome as I get to see what the band looks like! Thanks again Hoover.

I have a thing for Iceland. I would love to go there one day. I think it all started with Bjork and then continued with the television show "Lazy Town".

The creator and star, Magnús Scheving, is a nice piece of Iceland.

The entire country has fewer people than the city of Riverside, CA (have you checked Rentboy to see how many escorts are listed for Riverside?). There is a small gay community in Reykjavik, which a friend of mine managed to penetrate a number of years ago, but since everyone slept with everyone else, it was decimated by AIDS in the 80s; it may have reconstituted itself new with new younger members. Icelanders of all sexual persuasions love to travel, so they are fairly sophisticated sexually. A middle-aged Icelandic woman I met on a plane told me she went to Bulgaria every year to pick up young men on the beach at Varna.

In my three visits to Iceland, I had sex only once, with a young man I picked up by chance in the lobby of the Loftleider Hotel in Reykjavik.

WOW Charlie! Awesome info. Thanks for sharing. When you did go there how was their general view/treatment of Americans visiting? Am I correct in assuming a large part of their economy is based on tourism?

I read an article within the past few months that they are conducting (or already conducted) some sort of study with the population there because there are some positive health benefits/results of not having a lot for foreign genetic material introduced into their population. It seems there is something beneficial happening because of exclusive Icelandic reproduction.

I don't think that tourism is a big part of the economy, but they are very friendly and welcoming, and most Icelanders speak some English these days. The staples of tourism are visits to natural wonders like the original Geyser, glaciers, volcanic activity, etc., because there is little to see and do in the towns. And you had better like fish, since it is part of every meal. It is also a fairly expensive place to visit, since most things have to be imported, from liquor to automobiles to toilet paper.

>Thanks for the link, VDN. The video is

>beautiful however a tad provocative and gives you some food

>for thought - the soccer game, the relation with the father,

>the priest ...

It is provocative indeed .. and in a good way. I am glad you liked it. I think we are so numb anymore (Madonna on a cross, Rosie doing a lesbian love special on the cruise ship Valkyrie, etc.) that it is nice to have something provocative that makes one really think about something ... not just to think about it because it is crazy or "dirty". I liked the video because it made me react with emotion and not with alarm or disgust.

>To respond to showme43: most gay people in Europe hate

>soccer.

Why do they hate it? But I am sure they love...

I forgot about the whole European/American soccer/football confusion. Well, I am sure the only one confused is me. Rugby ... soccer .... curling .... just make a calendar and keep me happy. ;)
