2 DC RentMen M.I.A.

So I don't dabble a lot in DC bc I have a 2 year regular plus a 2nd from Ft Lauderdale who is here a lot. But my regular's gone 2 weeks, and my other is in Ft Lauderdale. Time to catch up with the guys online. Except the two hottest DC listings are MIA even though they're on RentMen.

"Bradley" has been visiting DC a lot from Ohio for a year and recently moved here. I've had two dates with him, both nice and he told me to always text anytime and he'd be right over. We were supposed to hook up months ago but he got into an accident and was out of business for a while. Then a month ago I got an email he was recovering and slowly going back in biz. I emailed. (He can't text). No answer yet in a month.

 

As any DC guy knows, it's not like we have a big surplus of super-hot business guys. Drought is more like it as many clients as there are. The 2 best going MIA for so long is concerning. Especially to someone who's just got a two-week window.

I know there aren't. All the local 20's guys are accountants or lawyers. Why we get so many visiting ones, it's a sellers' market. These two are from western Maryland and Ohio. When my friends are in town they get 20 or 30 client requests a day. There are a lot here but not enough and what's here is sub-premium and stale.

I wouldn't say Tristan has gone MIA. He is still recovering. The type of injury he has will take at least 4-6 months to heal (after the surgery). He is a friend. So much so that he and I just came back from a trip. I think he is about to leave the area for a month (in August) and then he'll be back in town.

 

I don't know to what extent he's seeing clients, but he may be focusing on regulars until he's fully recovered. I haven't really asked though. That's speculation on my part. However, as one might expect his priorities are a bit different because of the injury.

As @latbear4blk implies, there are a lot of sexy men in DC who are mainstays. The OP has a fixation on a particular trait (eye color) or traits that limit his options severely. ...as is his desire too.

 

I can't speak on Bradley (never met the guy), but Tristan has never been MIA (at least not with me) except when he was on vacation out of the country. If Bradley isn't responding maybe there is a reason good or bad he isn't. If you keep sending a text or email with no responses... maybe it's time to move on.

 

On a slight tangent... I do find it funny that the OP praises Tristan regularly (who is indeed an amazing guy in many respects) as if they met. Yet, I don't think they ever have. Is that a correct assumption?

I praise Tristan because so many including you say he's great. I have no idea what his accident was but he said that he would out of action for a while. I made it clear we never met before the accident.

 

Brad and I are fine. He was in Ohio and not answering texts there. He's coming over tonight and tomorrow as he's headed to New Orleans Friday.

When communication is challenging or lapses I remind myself that service providers are real persons with lives of their own and their own preferences. They vet us as we vet them. Tristan and Bradley are good examples. Tristan seems to always have a lot going on in his life, the injury being only one example. As b-n-t knows -- in part because I keep teasing him about it -- Tristan also prioritizes his established clients in scheduling. I had to work around that practice of his as well as his travel schedule and his various relocations in connecting with him. With Bradley, our communications reached a point where either he or I felt that there wasn't a fit based on what I was looking for and what he enjoys offering. To be graphic, I vet providers to see if they really deliver in the bottom role, and its just not his preference. Can't remember exactly who made that realization first, but it felt like win/win to let it go.

 

Bottom line, when responses don't happen or stop abruptly I assume I'm being vetted, respect that, and move on. If I think there's a good fit, as I did with Tristan, I'm more patient and try a few times, wait more, and remind myself that these guys have lives too.

I was just commenting that I don't praise unless I met, yet I've praised others based on reliable comments by folks I trust.
