What about the great white sharks?!

On the other hand there was a grade school (I think) girl whose school assignment was to write about a country she would like to visit and her teacher gave her an "F". She chose Australia. He insisted Australia was a continent and NOT a country! She had to appeal to the principal. Of course, there was no action taken against the teacher, not even remedial geography!

I got into a confrontation with an accounting teacher in college. Multiple choice question, all answers were pretty bad, I picked what I thought was the best one and he marked it wrong. I talked to him about it and he wouldn't budge. I went to our high school's accounting teacher and he picked the same answer did (along with making the comment "your teacher's an idiot"). I appealed again to the college teacher (omitting the 'idiot' comment) and again he wouldn't budge, and made a snarky comment about "people who get their accounting degrees from matchbook covers". By this time it was a full-on quest, so I brought the question to the Dean of Accounting at the university and he answered the same way I had. When I told the teacher this, he was angry, and then had a full-on shrieking fit at me in front of the class. Fun times.

In high school my Freshman year I had World History. So on a test a question was under which Roman Emperor did the Empire reach its greatest territorial extant. I answered "Trajan". He marked it wrong. He wanted "Hadrian". I told him that Hadrian gave up provinces that Trajan had conquered. In the classroom was a set of the World Book Encyclopedia. I showed him a map!
