https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_culture

<<Ball culture, the house system, the ballroom community and similar terms describe an underground LGBT subculture in the United States in which people "walk" (i.e., compete) for trophies and prizes at events known as balls. Some who walk also dance; others compete in drag categories, designed to emulate other genders and social classes. Most participants in ball culture belong to groups known as "houses".>>

I was not familiar with the term.

There are two shows (one is a drama and the other a reality tv show) on now that focus on the Ball culture. There is the FX series Pose that started this month I believe. The other is on the VICE channel called My House.

"Paris is Burning" is an iconic film about "houses" in New York. There is a new series on some channel on television centered this culture.

One of my favorite lines ever from a movie: "You MUST have a bag. It is a KNOWN FACT that a lady ALWAYS carries a bag."
