    I think this is a terrific reply. It explains where you're coming from, and I think demonstrates a great deal of empathy. The potential client seemed to have gotten locked into an adversarial pattern, and even after you graciously attempted to break that, didn't accept the kindly offered olive branch. I can't imagine a friendlier and warmer response than what you provided.

    If you were to look at me now you might not believe it, but back in the 80's I did 4 photo spreads with 3 photographers ... none of them got involved. One of them was deliberately annoying (he later admitted) because he wanted a sullen look on my face!
