Just to echo hte above - if safety is making sure the person showing up is the person who’s texting you, wouldn’t a description of what you’re wearing be enough to know? I’m not sure what extra safety it offers. 
Having said that, I did send a picture, even though I typically NEVER do that, and that resulted in being ghosted. It made me question if it was really about “safety”.

Masseurs provide their photos because they are marketing their services and handsome fellas in general get more clients and can charge higher rates. The “equity” of the situation is that the client is PAYING, and generally they are paying multiples of the amount they could hire an unseen random person in a random storefront down the street. It shouldn’t matter what the client looks like. If a client does appear in a Grim Reaper outfit, the masseur can bolt the door! 
I think I have been asked once out of hundreds of appointments over the years for a photo. I simply ignored the request and the appointment proceeded just fine without another mention. In NYC it doesn’t seem to be a thing because there are plenty of options and most clients would move to next. But, as you say, people can do whatever they wish with photos or tipping or whatever, but a picture request of a client is, as a practical matter, pointless, unless a therapist is screening. Okay then; I’ll send a photo if I get a discount. 😅

I’ve been trying to see him, but he’s flaked twice so far. He did ask for a picture. One appointment he chose a time frame, agreed he was available, then the morning of ignored the messages for confirmation address. The next day he had chosen a new time for another day, gave location for meeting, and then cancelled the morning of the appointment again.

My last two experiences with him (the most recent one being within the last month) were not as good as they used to be. His massage remains good and the sensual elements but:

1. He shorted me 30 minutes both times while charging for 90 minutes
2. He's gotten a little bit more aloof when messaging, it was to the point that I was hesitant to continue with the booking
 
I don't know. I feel like there are others that I see that offer at least what he offers and maybe with more skill, so I'm not sure that I'll continue seeing him. I only hesitate because the first few sessions were really amazing and I miss that energy that made it all worth it.

I hired him a while back. Massage was medium light pressure, more on the relaxing side and there were sensual aspects sprinkled throughout the session. He does look like his pic. Massage setup was in the living room. You’d be surprised by all the things you see in the decor. He massages clothed, but you’re nude. For $25 you get a release and there’s mutual touch involved during the HE, but he doesn’t remove any clothing. It’s just meh overall for me.

First, the good: he was communicative, on time, and extremely personable.  The bad: he has no business advertising himself as a masseur.  Additionally, everything is an up-charge, and trust me, with a massage that bad you’ll want to upgrade.  He is attractive, but very small in stature wherever you are measuring.

So, I went to see him today based on a previous (but closed) thread about him. Before I say anything  I want to acknowledge:
a) In the YMMV world, I know that I typically won't get good mileage.
b) Rene was really kind, polite, and I really like him and his tone - in person and in messaging.
c) Therapeutically, this is one of my favorite massages in LA area.
 
So, I reached out to him, he was friendly and prompt, and gave 2 90 minute options - $300 for therapeutic, $400 sensual. In spite of the price being what I felt to be steep, I decided to go for it based on the reviews on this site. He was running late for our initial scheduled time (I had to drive out 1.5 hours to see him), but it seemed like it would be worth it.
When I arrived, super kind, super friendly, again, I almost feel guilty writing all this. We begin the massage, and well, I'm draped, which I wasn't expecting, but thought, no problem. He was fully clothed, so I thought, maybe it's something that we warm up into in the sensual department, given that I'm expecting to pay $400. During the massage, he was usually positioning to be out of reach, but it seemed like it was mixed messages, so wasn't sure where things were going. I'm not a grabber, so I just respected what seemed like the boundaries he was creating. 
Before long, he said "well, take the time you need to get dressed". Usually I don't say anything, even if I don't like how something went, but this time I had to, I said, "Oh, is there no happy ending?" I felt stupid saying it and feel dumber writing it. But I wanted to point out the discrepancy somehow. Again, he was so polite, and he said, "Oh, I don't do that anymore, I'm engaged now." So I asked if it would be charging a different rate. He said he'd take $300. To be fair, he looked like he felt bad about it, and said "How would you like your happy ending?”, but obviously I felt awful at that point and politely declined. Now, i doubt he didn't know about his limitations as an engaged person before we started messaging and he gave me the options, but I didn't think about that until after. I just assumed that it's a new thing and sucks to be me. Now, after thinking about it, it seems strange to me that he didn't know that before we agreed on a time. It also makes me feel even worse, that I'm apparently so ugly that even a mechanical HE wasn't worth it.
Once again - I feel badly about saying anything "negative", because sincerely, there are people who come off as douchebags, but nothing about him rubs me that way. I thought he was so kind, and even handled the confrontation so kindly. But $300/90 minutes for what I think most people on here would consider a purely therapeutic session (he occasionally leaned in so that you felt part of his leg or groin but that was it), and with what was communicated by message, this was a major let-down.

I saw him recently. Great body, great personality, very solid massage. Both naked, MT. HE was standard.

tbh I didn't read through the entire profile only because he's a type I would never spend money on. 

Also - I was offered only two options:
Therapeutic (200/hr)
Sensual (300/hr)
There was no extras menu.

Unfortunately this was not the case for me, and I paid a very high price (escort rates). He was clothed until the last fifteen minutes and very little interactivity until then. Very kind, very gracious, but $400/90 minutes for that is not something I’d repeat.

Can mostly second @Enronnjaviews, although less in-shape last week by far than the pics. No abs, a little bit of chub. i still think he was hot, but just saying he doesn't match his photos presently. 60 minute session lasted only 30 minutes though as he was a little excited. Personally, wouldn't repeat.

I so appreciate this forum. Helps me find good guys and avoid the others. Met Grant and enjoyed myself thoroughly. His work is intense (which I asked for) and he is strong. Great body, though leaner right now. Looks as advertised and he made us both happy in the end, which I love. Don’t sleep on this guy. 

Update: Someone from the forums here private messaged me and they messaged him to ask about his rates and follow-up by asking about whether or not he offers MT, MN and HE. The rates he gave were similar ($20 off), so the person forwarded him my post above as a reason for inquiring in so much detail. Rene’s response was that I never asked for sensual and that I was disrespectful. That sucks - gave him benefit of the doubt and actually thought he was kind. I guess I was more played than I thought.

I used to go to him regularly, but i’ve noticed that since his return from abroad, he’s a lot ‘moodier’. He used to always be kind and warm, now he’s often a little bit aloof, curt, and then nice right at beginning and end. I don’t know, it’s been off and we’ve had great rapport for years. It might be a phase, but just throwing that out there. 

Hold up. Please listen. You owe this guy nothing. We here thank you for you relating this experience. I will not hire him based on this. Yes he may still be hot but his behavior is inexcusable and it kills me that he misrepresented himself and yet you feel guilty when you have been anything but unkind.  You are not ugly. Get that out of your head and while true that I have never seen you some of us would look inferior to super hot guys. But I would prefer knowing you due to your genuine personality.....we can get hairy legs and a great ass from someone else. Please do not be inferior to anyone. Ever. I hope this  comment gets to you.
