Face masks are being used as billboards. For example, at the US Open, each day Naomi Osaka wears a mask with the name of someone shot by the police while she is being interviewed. Instead of sending pens or calendars when soliciting donations, some organizations are sending face masks; I got a couple of very nice ones from the Humane Society with their name on them.

How do you approach the Trans community without offending them
+ Charlie replied to Lchnsf's topic in The Lounge
It is never easy to turn down a sexual come-on from anyone if you don't want to offend or hurt them. The worst thing is to tell them, "You're not my type," because that makes them the problem. It is better to be honest and just say, "I'm sorry. I like you, but I am not sexually attracted to you, and I can't help that. I hope we can simply be friends, " which takes the onus off them. If they continue to press, it's time to say, "You seem to have a problem accepting who I am. Let's talk about why that is," which shifts the focus to their behavior. -
Hurricane-force Winds Wreak Havoc in Salt Lake City
+ Charlie replied to rvwnsd's topic in The Lounge
Those winds had one desirable effect, for those of us in Palm Springs: they were apparently responsible for blowing the smoke from the big fire in the Sierras out of our town yesterday and giving us our only clear day in quite some time. -

I have never heard of Datalounge, and suddenly I see it mentioned three times on here today! -
Why did you think that? I have been sexually attracted to all kinds of men, regardless of age, height, weight, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical characteristics--why would his previous gender be an automatic turn-off? It's hard to pin down exactly what it is about an individual that turns me on, but I know it when I feel it.

I love the "brick" wall behind the scene, which is actually an obvious cloth hanging.
-
The fact that he is a trans man wouldn't be of interest to me, either for or against. It's still a matter of whether I am attracted to the individual.

Cultural drift: forty years ago, BB was considered vanilla in the gay community, and now one can argue whether it is nasty or a fetish.

Only five reviews in four years on the site, despite apparently being up for almost any kind of scene? He also needs to curate his photo spread instead of just adding to it (it contains the same photo three times), and he looks older than 26 in some of them. That being said, he looks like fun.

Fabio was one of those I saw shirtless at Indian Wells several years ago. Talk about an exhibitionist!

At the tennis clubs I have belonged to or played at, men are never allowed to play matches without shirts. The same is true of pro tournaments, so the photos above are all from practice sessions or breaks in matches when the players are allowed to change their equipment (clothing counts as equipment). At the Indian Wells tournament, it is fun to wander around the practice courts, where I have seen many of these guys shirtless.

I make monthly donations to two local foodbanks, and regular donations to a few local animal welfare organizations. I donate to a number of national charitable organizations, like the Red Cross, Amnesty International and POINT Foundation. I make occasional donations to other large organizations that solicit donations, though I always check them out first on Charity Navigator. There are a lot of organizations that I don't really consider charities, like Lambda Legal or the the ACLU, which I have supported for many years. And I make political donations, which I don't consider charitable. I would never have had the education and subsequent career that I had without the scholarships from the small private college I attended, and the fellowship from the Woodrow Wilson National Foundation that put me through graduate school, so I make generous financial donations to both of them each year; although the IRS considers that a charitable donation, I consider it payback.

He didn't see the ball hit her, and I don't think he realized immediately what had happened, until others started running to her. I have long been a fan of Novak's tennis, but I have sometimes questioned other aspects of his behavior and his judgment. He is not the only player who smacks balls in anger, but it is not appropriate for someone who wants to be a role model and knows that everything he does will be scrutinized.

I was watching the match until just before the incident, and Djokovic was very frustrated, because he missed some shots, and then stumbled trying to get a shot and fell heavily on his left arm, wincing so noticeably from the pain that he had to stop and get a medical time out. When they continued the game, his lost his serve. He wasn't trying to hit the line judge--he wasn't even looking in her direction--he just smacked the ball in exasperation, and was obviously shocked that it hit her. If the trajectory had been a few inches different, he probably wouldn't even have received a warning. But the rule says that if a ball not in play is hit by the player with disregard for the result, and it hits someone, the player gets defaulted, regardless of the player's intent. It's not the first time I have watched it happen: Shapovalov hit a ball in anger during a Davis Cup match a few years ago, and it hit the umpire in the eye; Nalbandian hit a ball that hit a wooden surround at a linesman's chair, the wood broke and spiked the linesman's leg. In both cases, the result was unintentional, but each player was defaulted from the tournament. If Djokovic hadn't been defaulted, it would have been assumed that he was getting special treatment because of his status, which would send a very bad message. But it does result in an earthquake in men's tennis. Someone is going to win his first major (slam) title, and the possibilities are intriguing. I watched Tsitsipas, who was one of the favorites, lose his five-setter to Coric the night before and react rather casually to the ending; I am sure he was banging his head against the wall yesterday at the realization of the lost opportunity. I doubt that it will be Pospisil, even though like BSR I have always rooted for him.

I, too, keep a mask in each car, just in case I forget to bring one or find myself in a situation where I didn't expect to need one, but do. I also always have one in my pants' pocket, even when I am just taking the dog out to do his business near the house, because one never knows when a neighbor may suddenly appear.

Perhaps one "hosts" a cat, but a dog is more like a child.

In Palm Springs, wearing masks on the street in the downtown near a commercial activity is required, but I haven't been downtown since it was mandated, so I don't know how many people do it. In our gated residential community, we have been told to wear a mask whenever we are outside in common areas. I always have a mask ready to put on if I encounter another resident, but I don't see any reason to wear one if there is no one else around. If it is OK to not wear a mask while eating at an outdoor restaurant, I don't see why it should be necessary when walking on a street when there is no one around. A few people here have mentioned how uncomfortable it is to wear a mask outdoors when it is very hot, and I have certainly found that to be true, which is why I only wear one outdoors if I am interacting with other people, masked or not. However, Unicorn, if the young woman on the trail didn't know you, why should she assume you were telling her the truth, considering how many people offer questionable information ?
