  1. I recently spent a 4-day weekend in FTL. I went to Johnson's on the Thursday and Friday & Boardwalk on the Saturday and Sunday.

First Johnson's. I arrived around 9:00pm each night. Good fun with a good selection of dancers. Lots of variety both in terms of ethnicity and also body type from fem twinks to macho Latinos and Europeans. No big muscle however. The vast majority of the dancers were good looking or very good looking. The bar was relatively quiet on Thursday and quite busy on Friday...although not packed. I had a good time on both nights hanging out with several Latino dancers I had met previously. Good solid night both nights. Whilst I used Uber all four night, I could see the parking options at Johnson's were quite limited. That could a problem for people planning to drive themselves to the bar.

The two nights I went to the boardwalk I first ate at their outdoor café. Pretty good burgers/fries and obviously very convenient. Things at Boardwalk on Friday were fairly quiet at 9:00 pm but it got busy by 11:00pm. Dancer quality was quite varied. One very good looking dancer...a Colombian. Most of the rest were very average looking guys you wouldn't look twice at if you saw them on the street. A couple of the dancers appeared to be well into their 40's. I did not spend any time with any of the guys. The club itself is looking great. It has a very open and professional feel to it. Great sound and lighting. Why oh why did Boardwalk not take the opportunity of instituting a no-smoking policy inside when they did the renovation? Dancers walking up to talk with you whilst smoking is not a very good look these days IMHO. Same thing with several bartenders who chain-smoked the entire night.....nasty!! For heavens sake, they have a nice little patio bar outside in back where people could leave the main club for 5 minutes to have a cigarette. The smoking issue would be so easy to fix and cost them nothing.

Both Boardwalk and Johnson's look nice but Johnson's wins the overall competition hands down. Johnson's has a much better quality of dancers and the no-smoking policy inside seals the deal. I see no reason to return to Boardwalk until they secure much more attractive dancer talent and also declare the inside bar to be no-smoking.

Possibly the best and most useful review of stripper bars I've seen on any social media site. I've never been to either of these, so I'm sorry if this is redundant, folks. Are any of the Lauderdale strippers willing and able to discuss spending some time with you back at the hotel room? Are they typically gay? Gay 4 pay?

  2. Later home media editions of the film have a commentary track titled "The Greatest Movie Ever Made" the hilarious premise of which is the film was intended as a serious work. Sadly, to be able to appreciate the commentary fully, you do have to watch the movie, er, 'straight', as it were. Then you can watch again with the commentary. I promise you, it is worth it. But only if you are a philistine. ;)

There is a more recent school of thought that Showgirls is a satire. The director, Paul Verhoeven, has a history of satirical films that many people took seriously, such as the original Robocop (1987) and the film adaptation of Robert Heinlein's novel Starship Troopers (1997) (which would be fitting since the book also has a history of being massively misunderstood.)

Maybe I should start a thread in the Movie subforum...

Well I think I better read up on it a bit before I delve into a film that (apparently) invites much construction and deconstruction. For now, I'm going to gorge on cheap ice cream and the Amy Winehouse bio.

  3. The greatest work of art of the 20th century! :D

I'm thinking this is sarcasm, but don't know enough about the movie or your tastes to be sure. Am I a philistine for being only vaguely aware of the movie? Should I watch it as my labor day Sunday flick?

  4. One caveat, he texted me a week later and asked for a loan..I ghosted him.

Interesting to know that it happens on the higher end of the escort spectrum. A few escorts I hired have done the same thing to me, but they were nowhere near the quality and, apparently, rate of Jack. I guess there are escorts who are genuinely broke and turning to possible sources of money. But i wonder how many of them make this a routine.

  5. Hey Coriolis888 I have no intention, what so ever, of getting together with this guy. As I mentioned earlier, in this thread, I'm simply playing along to see how much effort he will put out attempting to run his scam.

Wise move-wish I had seen this thread before hiring this guy in NOLA about 2 weeks ago. Anyone is welcome to message me for details. Just be warned.
