Not my biggest cooking fail -but definitely a cooking faux pas. I made several mistakes along with a few near misses. I went over to a friend's place tonight. He had a minor surgical procedure. He actually had no activity restrictions but was a bit sore/stiff. I told him I'd come over and make dinner. It's not that big a deal, I've made dinner or helped him with dinner several times in the past. I made a meatloaf. He bought/provided most of the stuff. I brought the fixings for Green Bean Casserole (it's not just for Thanksgiving anymore-I'm sure most of you know it. I'll include the recipe below for non Americans like @mike careywho might not know it. I'm sorry for singling you out Mike, but you're the only non-United States based non-American that I know of who is involved with the Forum here). I also brought/made Stove Top Cornbread Stuffing. The only difference with this dinner than our usual was that I did almost all of the cooking myself after he got out some of the ingredients. He did do the cleaning up-but I was fairly neat. All that was really needed was putting up the spices and putting pots, pans, plates, and silverware in the dishwasher. So the mistakes were with the meatloaf. It wasn't awful, but I forgot the dry mustard. (Whisper-I may have also forgotten the salt-mea culpa). He said the meatloaf was ok. But he doesn't use a lot of salt. He only buys non-salted butter-whereas I only buy salted butter. He's a much better/more experienced cook than I am. My thought has always been that if using salted butter is really going to ruin the recipe, then the recipe is probably too complicated for me to begin with. I did think the meatloaf needed salt. But I probably would have felt that way even if I had added the salt prior to cooking. I've always liked salt, and I may like it more now that I'm on a diuretic which decreases your body's sodium I also forgot to smear the top with ketchup. That was partially both our faults. He didn't buy any bacon to put on top of the meatloaf. And normally I put the ketchup on, and then layer the bacon on top. When I didn't have any bacon to lay over the top, I didn't think about what else I should be doing to it. I almost had another mistake. I initially forgot the ketchup that's mixed into the beef. I was about to shape the loaf and put it in the oven when I realized. I put quickly added the ketchup and shaped it. My main problem overall was that I hadn't cooked a meatloaf in over a year. If had been au courant with the recipe, I'm sure my mistakes and near misses wouldn't have happened. Another obstacle was the fact that I keep most my recipes in a special email account that I made just for recipes. So while preparing, I was reading the recipe off my iPhone. Next time if possible, I will print the recipe off ahead of time-or if no printer is available, write it down. I promise to do better next time. I plan to make this again later this week. I'll keep you all informed on how it goes. I'm pretty sure I've posted this Meatloaf Recipe in the past. But here it is again followed by the Green Bean Casserole Recipe. This recipe is from my mother. She may have gotten it from the Betty Crocker or the Better Homes and Garden Cookbooks. One thing/the recipe does call for horseradish. My mother never did that. I tried it once-it wasn't bad. But I don't usually use it. I've included some Tips and Hacks I've learned over the years at the bottom of the recipe. **********

I don't know about @mike carey, but I prefer to be known as a cortejo. 😉😉 I'm not drinking a lot at the moment. But even when I do-sorry all you wine connoisseurs-I prefer something sweet-a sweet kosher, a Riesling, or possibly a Sangria. A friend of mine introduced me to Elderberry wine, and that was good too. Come to think of it, if I can't have a beer (lager style) with a pizza, a Sangria sounds nice There was one slightly dry berry wine I had about 14 years ago that I really liked. I bought it at a fruit winery in Victoria, BC. I can't remember the berry exactly. It might have been a marionberry hybrid.

I think I remember him vaguely. I definitely remember talk about his questionnaire. Did he used to advertise mainly in New Jersey or Florida?

It went ok. Nothing special. I probably talked too much. I don't think I said anything too long embarrassing. At least I tried. I'm supposed to get an invite for next week. We'll see. No one is be interested in for a date I think even if they were available-hard to find out that level of detail in a group of 7 at a noisy restaurant. Plus while I am one, I'm not that attracted to bears-or at least overweight bears. My problems -are many-but I can't really talk about my previous career because 12 years later it still pains me. I had a job recently that I lost-so difficult to talk about that. I've got a lot of medical problems at the moment. And my main hobby is reading-haven't had the money to do anything for for a long time while these guys are talking about going to New Orleans or flying to California. Oh wait-I just read that. I'm a gem. They would be chomping at the bits to make me a new friend of their group. But again if I get an invite for next week we'll see.

Most likely not. But hope does spring eternal.

Over the years I've been in sporadic contact with Galahad (an alias). As I recall I first saw him on Growlr-might have been Scruff-but more likely Growlr about 13 years ago. I know when because it was during the last time I lived in the Dallas area from 2011 to 2012. He was a bearish type guy-brownish/blond hair with a brownish/blond beard. Galahad was in a relationship, but I think they were open. We met once or twice in person. I was attracted to him, but conversation was definitely not easy. And nothing ever came of it. After I moved back to Washington state, I'd see him online occasionally, and we'd occasionally text. But those instances were few and far between. Since I've been back here starting in 2018-same thing. He seems to go offline for long periods of time. But we started talking the other day. I mentioned getting something to eat. He seemed interested in getting together, but I don't know if he's actually 'interested' in me. For one thing in the intervening years, I've gained a lot more avoirdupois. Last week he mentioned that a bear group has a regular dinner meeting and gave me the info. So I'm going. But I don't really have good luck with these things. For one thing-while crowds don't really intimidate me-I don't usually do well breaking into a new group on my own without friends already there. And yes I know Galahad but only vaguely. I tried an older gay meet-up in Seattle once around 2010. It was a new group starting up. I was the second youngest there. As I recall one guy slept thru the whole meeting. Another guy wasn't sure he was going to like the internet -was cautiously going to try dial-up ( and even in 2010 this was reasonably old-fashioned). Also out of the 7 or so there -most of them seemed to have been married previously. I was most likely the only one who had been a total virgin until age 41 and had to be taught how to kiss by the escort who provided my 1st experience. Aside from age and being gay, I didn't seem to have much in common with them. On top of that Seattle was 35 miles away. So I never went back. A penpal of mine said I should. But I gave him the same reasons I'm giving y'all now. After that I tried the Bear Movie Group -again in Seattle 35 miles away. So that group all of them seemed to know each other beforehand even if only slightly. I was the only unknown. The first movie night was ok-afterwards we went to a 5 Guys to eat and talk. That was nice. But I wasn't always able to go due to work. And it turned out that the only time we went somewhere to talk/eat was that first time. After about 4 times, I stopped going. I figured what was the use. If we never got together to shoot the breeze after a movie, I was never really going to get to know them. As it was I was probably one of the oldest if not the oldest. So again not much in common. The first group I was too young and had been too closeted for most of my life to have much in common with those guys. With the movie group I was too old-but again without a lot of experience, and there was no real chance to get to know them as we all left after the movie was over. Tonight (Wednesday) I was out to eat with family. One of my nieces graduated pre-K today and her grandmother was in town for the event. So I'm sitting next to my Mom. And I mention quietly that I'm going out to dinner again on Thursday. My Mom asks with whom. I told her it was with a group of 'like-minded' people. To her credit she knew immediately what I was talking about. I doubt she knows the term 'bears-and I wasn't going to get into a discussion of gay stereotypes. She seemed glad. She would like me to socialize more. But I've never really had a boyfriend. Even though she'd like me to socialize more, I always wonder how she'd react to me being in an actual relationship-or the rest of the family too for that matter. But it most likely won't happen. Still I do wonder. In conclusion I'm still not sure how I feel about going due to my past experiences. Maybe it will be just right. But we'll see.

I'm really enjoying this British whodunnit. My 90 year old Mom and I watched the first three episodes a week or so ago. And I was back at her place tonight-where we watched episode 4. I'm a bit po-ed though. IMDb shows that all 6 episodes are out. But that was from the original showing in the UK. So I was trying to get to episode 5/6. But I didn't realize that they hadn't dropped all of the episodes at once here in the US of A. In fact episode 4 only dropped this evening. I was really tired awhile back when we watched episodes 1 - 3 in one sitting. And I didn't even notice that those were the only ones available. I'm watching thru a Britbox add on to Amazon's Prime Video. I don't know whether a straight (err I mean "go gaily forward") Britbox stand alone subscription would have all the episodes right now. One of the characters tonight referred to himself and his lady-love as 'bellends' as they had both behaved badly in the relationship My Mom doesn't hear well- has even more problems understanding English accents-and I doubt she read the subtitle. I decided not to enlighten her to its meaning in case she actually did hear/see it. 😉😉

I've never met him, but he's been advertising in Dallas since at least 2018.

He doesn't list kissing. Now @Pd1_jap-you know normally I'd be the last one to want you to "kiss AND tell"-but I'm ok with only asking about the kissing. Does he? 🤔🤔

If you could somehow fit in an excursion to Vancouver Island and see Victoria the capital city, that would be great thing to do!! There's a place called Butchart Gardens. It should be in full bloom now. They quarried the land. And later on ended up making the large excavations into gardens. The Butchart Gardens WWW.BUTCHARTGARDENS.COM Enveloping visitors in lush greens and colourful blooms, The Butchart Gardens is a must-see garden oasis... I also went on quite a nice winery tour on Vancouver Island once. tripadvisor.com WWW.TRIPADVISOR.COM

It's pretty dang good enough for me-unless he really does have a folder at home full of papers with pre-printed dates. After all you can make a mock up of a newspaper too. I think that's only a little less likely than him having a folder of future dates.

Actually even less than semi. I took a Motor City Company Supreme Detroit Pizza and doctored it up with some purple onions, tasteless Roma tomato slices, olives, and extra mozzarella-might have been Parmesan but I forget . This is a pretty good brand for a frozen pizza. I used to do the same thing with Digiorno's Crispy Deep Dish Pan Pizza. But they quit making it about a year and a half ago and substituted a similar but inferior Detroit style pizza.

It says he's from Cuba. So the Miami weather may feel like home to him. Of course that's no indication of whether he actually likes heat and humidity. I grew up in Texas and hate humidity-but I did grow up in the less humid part of Texas.

He's had a profile since 2021 with no reviews. Considering how handsome he is, that definitely seems like a red flag of some kind.

I'm not familiar with Lenso or how to add extensions to Chrome on my iPhone.

That's interesting. I remember either from here or another site that he didn't have the best reputation. It's been such a long time that I can't remember if it was threatening someone, being out of shape, or just not fulfilling things he had said he would do.

As I think I mentioned once before on this thread-if not-too long to go into now -Dean Monroe once refused a tip from me after I felt bad for acting so nervous with him. PS: that's my Superman t-shirt although he looks much better in it than I ever did.
