For years I assumed I would retire to Palm Springs. It would be so easy, from where I am now. But the future of Palm Springs looks worrisome to me, though I know much, much less about New Mexico versus the Coachella Valley.

Been awhile now that young guys had a decision to make when going out: shall I wear my hair up or down tonight, and choice of product to work in. Going forward I won't be surprised if men's makeup becomes more and more standard. When I was a baby gay we had our fashion show in front of the mirror and which cologne to choose for the evening. That was it. Was life easier then? At least the hair and make-up chore wasn't invented yet.

I'm looking for a vacation home near Santa Fe, where I'd spend a good chunk of my time after I retire. Is anyone familiar with the pros and cons of that part of the world? One area I'm considering has improvements for home development and is at 7500 ft. elevation. I'm wondering if I can manage living at that altitude.
