It's a new year and I thought it might be good to gather all the disparate posts about Weho spas in one place. Here's a rundown. Feel free to share within the rules of the board, or message privately. West Hollywood Day Spa (formerly Meridian Day Spa) Good: Reasonably priced Bad: New ownership and a cautionary Yelp review led to a turnover in masseurs about six months ago. Several of the good ones left. Had a not good experience with a replacement (he was late, sweaty, talkative) and never went back after. Parking can be a challenge. Sparadise Good: Very reasonably priced, Thai (full body) massage, good massages, parking lot. Bad: Rooms are not quiet. Walls are not floor to ceiling. My last session was next to a couple and they were talking and laughing, the guy even farted and dropped all his change on the floor. One of the handsier masseurs just left. Gendamerie Good: Very friendly staff, boutique-style, free booze, good massages, valet Bad: Expensive, a bit run down for the price (i.e. the "locker room" is a claustrophobic space with open cubbies and one shower, though I have heard that multiple people may share it lol) Burke Williams Good: Friendly staff, facials and nail service, spa area with saunas/steam, attractive patrons, parking lot Bad: Expensive, hit-or-miss massages, strictly professional, not always clean (towels can pile up in the locker room and steam room) Prince Spa Good: Inexpensive, surprisingly attractive Asian masseurs (at least during my visit), minimal draping, definitely LGBT friendly Bad: No frills (but not dirty), street parking Ole Henriksen Haven't reviewed but it's very expensive. The (multiple) posters who wrote that Grant screens for clients of size are trustworthy. One even ran his own separate masseur review blog where he shared dozens of his experiences -- good and bad. While there were times my own experience with masseurs on his (and this blog) differed than his, he never exaggerated or lied. There were posts on that site from additional clients who confirmed Grant's restrictions and erratic behavior. Ditto for those who wrote he does not see Asian clients. They are reliable, longtime posters. And some private messaged me with more details. He may go by Taylor or Grant, live in Weho or Phoenix, be therapeutic or sensual, but a leopard doesn't change his spots. He is responsible for the reputation he created, not clients.

Just FYI, it has been well documented that Grant does not like Asian clients. But judging by your profile name, maybe you will be an "exception."

Oh trust me, those types of profiles were still around until they implemented Kindr Grindr and community moderation a year ago. https://www.kindr.grindr.com/ You still get racist profiles once in awhile, especially near Weho and from visitors who download the app while here (i.e. Aussies). If you Google Kindr Grindr you can read news coverage about it, unsurprisingly from queer black and Asian journalists because white guys aren't subject to it.

I'm of South Asian heritage. Yes, some can smell very strongly of garlic, onions or tumeric. I was super conscious of this growing up as a brown kid in a white and Asian neighborhood. If I had friends over, I would ask them if my house "smelled." There would be "normal" food like Doritos in the pantry. I have had masseurs ask me if I am "Indian Indian" or native American. I have been asked if I smell, and have been asked if I smell like curry. I don't eat a lot of Indian food and do not, but sure if I was cooking onions for Indian, Italian, Korean or whatever cuisine I would "smell" (I personally find that guys who consume a lot of cow's milk have certain scent). I always show up to a massage showered. Only once has a masseur turned me away at the door -- maybe I wasn't his "type" (he claimed to have not received confirmation which was a lie). Maybe he didn't like brown guys. Discrimination is very real and I do think Asians have it the worst (I say this being a subset of Asians). I have a friend who worked in product at Grindr and one of the reasons they implemented the Kindr policy and flag options were specifically to address the anti-Asian comments on the app. You can still read vestiges of then on the site Douchebags of Grindr. They're really racist. Be warned.

Tried this place out. Arrived a bit before the hour and there were several decent looking Asian guys sitting outside (they only had male masseurs at that time but reading Yelp they also have masseuses). Had a solid, relatively inexpensive massage from one of the guys. Tbh couldn't really tell what he looked like because the room was dark and I was already face down. When I turned over my eyes hadnt adjusted so I couldnt see before an eye mask was put on. No complaints other than the wall is paper thin and I was also near reception so it was pretty distracting to hear all the conversation and other clients getting massaged.
