1. I was at National Airport DC yesterday (the desk staff are the best). I noticed on the board that while 3/4 of flights were "cancelled", 1/4 were "On time" . We saw a lot of American planes landing too. My impression was they were mostly AA commuter planes, ie: Republic Airlines. The airport was nearly empty and antiseptic.
2. You have to contact them directly to see if they are open to any sort of meeting.
3. OK. Then for Latins without a language problem San Juan may be good. My preference is Columbia.
4. I open on my phone and swipe screenshot then email it to myself and open and save in Windows.
5. You do understand borders are all closed for the foreseeable future?
6. an interesting alternative to shopping or eating out: https://www.tovala.com/how-it-works
7. I've gotten all mine off Amazon for 2 or 3 years.
8. I hope so because I'm going to run out of stuff to binge watch.
9. Dakota Cochrane. He's a very famous MMA fighter with a family. There were many stories when he was revealed a long time ago.
10. I keep up with him on IG. He was my fav.
11. lol. That story's about C-PAP machines being used. Many of us here use C-PAP for better sleeping. They didn't invent it in under a week; they copied it in under a week.
12. Zoom is zooming.
13. I think in many ways this will be one of those events that accelerates changes that were coming anyway. Why Amazon and Instacart are hiring 100,000 new permanent employees. Working at home and teleconferencing like Zoom make office buildings less and less relevant. If $20K college courses can be taught online what else can? Cheap electricity makes small personal vehicles prevalent and gas is cheap. People won't flock back to subways and buses. Goodbye movie theaters, hello streaming. Professionally-prepared food tastes just as good delivered at home and without the 20% tip. All these remote activities were already growing before this latest world virus. This one will make them prevalent. Automatic border screening for virus when a pandemic strikes should be the rule in the future. And travel from hotspots should be automatically barred until there's a test for the new virus.
14. Hopefully once the tests become prevalent some travel will return upon proof of test. Also, once the antibody test comes many people will learn they have probable immunity and can venture out.
15. and don't overuse hand sanitizers
16. What happens to partially-used roundtrips? Friends have a return left to Europe in late May on American that originated in Europe. I guess driving to the airport and talking to a desk wizard is the best method if social media fails.
17. American is flying Miami to LAX for $34 roundtrip. JetBlue is $26 RT. Buy up a whole plane and stretch out. https://viewfromthewing.com/13-cross-country-airfares-but-why-are-airlines-pricing-below-marginal-cost/
18. Trump many quarantine NY off from US today : "We might not have to do it but there's a possibility that sometime today we'll do a quarantine — short term [for] two weeks," he said. https://news.yahoo.com/trump-considering-quarantine-york-164649982.html
19. Just back from trying to go to my Trader Joes a block away. They have a new policy of only 40 people in the store at a time and there was a line of 100 waiting to be admitted at 5pm on friday. The door guard said this was normal the past 2 days all day. 4 restaurants on both sides of Trader Joes have now shut down and boarded up with plywood. So has West Elm. Very depressing for a vibrant urban neighborhood to die out. And yet yesterday we were able to drive to the downtown WalMart by the Capitol and to Harris Teeter grocery close to it and everything was perfectly normal. My dentist called in the am to say my cleaning was canceled because of the lockdown, and in the pm she rescheduled it for monday as they got approval as essential. All liquour stores around me are open as essential. For hundreds of miles west of DC there are virtually no cases. North and east of DC to NY it's becoming the world hotspot. Totally random how this lockdown is hitting and how "indefinite".
20. It's a huge issue for Florida, upstate NY, Long Island, and many places fairly wealthy NYers frequent, including DC . NY will be the Italy of the US as connected as it is to so much of the US. Where's Gov.Christie when we need some bridges and tunnels closed?
21. Aldi is so cheap that it's delivery with InstaCart justifies the delivery cost. (The 1st 3 are free). The one in DC is across town so it's worth the delivery. If DC starts to get Mad Maxy I'm getting Instacart deliveries. Grocery stores are contagion hotspots. https://www.aldi.us/en/about-aldi/faqs/grocery-delivery-pickup/
22. I have plenty and WalMart is in every delivery getting more TP and huge $3 bottles of HS. I have also gotten as much rubbing alcohol as I can and small spray bottles with caps. I place the bottles around doorknobs outside, in the car for handles, etc, in my pocket for grocery cart handles etc. and try to squirt first whatever I touch as much strange as possible. Also paper money. mail, and Amazon boxes. CV virus lives on cardboard up to 24 hours !. I'm also pro-OdoBan spray as I've mentioned. Hand sanitizer is just another form of disinfectant but the hardest to find.
