I used to frequent Orleans on a monthly basis, before Katrina. I love New Orleans. I love the food, I love the entertainment. Before Katrina, there used to be good dancers at oz, and the pub. I have heard things have changed. Not for the better. I've been to Mardi Gras and Southern decadence. The one gripe I always heard from dancers, and a lot of them were available for privates. Was that too many people were partying drinking and doing drugs. And not paying attention to them. I think, that's part of the problem with New Orleans. These people go there to eat drink and be merry. And I think, that gets in the way of the escort scene.

No. They're wrong. Tell them to come on down. :-) Actually, I really don't think that's at all accurate.
 
BTW, there's a name given to local men who are married w/ children who are on the d l, sometimes laughably so. They're often rich and "prominent", and they've been a constant part of the population generation after generation. We call them " New Orleans straight".

I loved NO as a tourist. Also as a foodie.
 
Ive heard San Francisco and New Orleans compared relative to the escort scene by 2 escorts. (Years ago, pre-Katrina)
 
Both wondered if they were mediocre escorting cities because the people are very self indulgent, and in an extremely permissive environment. In other words, it eliminates the segment of hiring clients seeking things less available to them without paying, or on the down-low for fear of discovery. And add in the other tourist distractions

I suppose I take it a little personally when people trash-talk New Orleans; it’s been my home for over 40 years. I must iterate what others have said: if you come here and never leave the Quarter, then you really have a very narrow view on which to judge the city.
 
I agree that the escort scene is surprisingly bleak here. When I was much younger (back before the internet, in what Bambi Lake called “the golden age of hustlers”) there were plenty of eager guys here to pass some time with; I remember a beautiful kid Donnie with almond-shaped eyes and a dragon tattoo that coiled around his torso and down one leg. But that was a long time ago, and things have definitely changed. AIDS was a factor, and so was the oil bust, and so was Katrina. My own two cents is that nowadays there’s simply not the clientele to support a good escort scene; New Orleans proper is actually quite small, and it’s certainly not wealthy. So now If I’m going to hire, I prefer to do it with well-known, top-notch guys rather than take a chance on something less than stellar, and that means going out-of-town.
 
That said, it has become my personal mission to nag, tempt, cajole, coerce, seduce and otherwise convince Tristan Baldwin to get his fine self down to New Orleans at least once. He’s shown me around both Boston and L.A., and I am determined to return the favor.

@Capitano I completely agree... and while you will undoubtedly earn back whatever money you've paid, it's the frustrating reality that the time spent in the process is unrecoverable.

Way too numerous & obviously fake reviews for Jake is Back! were a warning sign but options are so limited in New Orleans that I still decided to try.

I am visiting DC and decided to give him a try. He has good massage skills and is a nice guy with a cheery disposition. English is not his first language, and he is still learning it and I could tell he is a bit self-conscious about that. He is very fit and can apply deep pressure (which I prefer). Overall a good experience and would definitely see him again if we were in the same city.

Welcome to a thread on the thread on SESTA (started by StevenKesslar). It's nice to see some prolific posters finally have an interest but it passed Congress yesterday and now we're sort of waiting for the lights to go out. Hopefully we can get a test case on the constitutionality quickly but I doubt it will be in time to stop the chilling effect on internet service providers that is it's real intent: Get them to filter out any sites having anything to do with escorting.
 
I'm not listing what all I've been doing the past month to fight SESTA but I do live and work in DC am gay and once every week or two put on my lawyer drag and venture to Capitol Hill to find buttonholes. Unfortunately most of my contacts are Democrats and they weren't budging on SESTA. 11 Democrats in the House and 1 in the Senate opposed SESTA. Leadership (or maybe the DNC) probably put out a party-line directive.
 
Trump is not the only master showman in DC who knows how to control what people are interested in at any time. The static and noise are diversionary flak to keep people's attention away from the horrible stuff being done quietly at the same time. SESTA is serious for us and a potential disaster for the internet.
