They didn't have these in my area when I was growing up (and still don't, as far as I know). But when I went to Europe on a school trip in my senior year in high school (spring 1982) I saw at least one of these in Paris. Not sure if it was the same chain (at the time I had never heard of it anyway), but did think it was funny to see this on a Parisian street.

They still make Sears catalogs?

Not so strange...if you know how to edit a Wiki article...:D:D

The reason I asked is that I know Wikipedia doesn't favor things that sound promotional in nature - that sentence sounds like a commercial, not a plain old fact about the subject. The sentence in question is now gone from the article.

This is from a Wikipedia entry?

I can't even get past the oh-so-cutesy name, which looks to me more like it should be for chicken feed anyway (i.e. chicken filler, grade A?). There aren't any of these in Boston proper at this point (the Mayor, and his predecessor, don't want them here - and good for them), and I feel no need to travel to one lol.

I find that I'm not really eating much "classic" fast food lately (i.e. the real chains like McDonald's etc) - but for burgers either Wendy's or Burger King is good for me if I'm in the mood for that. Subway is ok, but there was a time about a decade ago maybe when there were a bunch of Quizno's locations in Boston (they've since died) and I found I really liked them better. I live within walking distance of a KFC, but have never gone there in all these years that I've lived in this area. Not sure why lol. It's just not really on my radar somehow. In terms of similar "trendy" fast-ish-food places that have opened in recent years, I'd say I love B. Good a lot - but very underwhelmed by Pret A Manger. Chipotle is ok, but Boston has better in places like Herrerra's, and a wrap/frappe chain called Boloco. Boston also has a Dunkin Donuts nearby everywhere you go, lol, though for coffee I'm admittedly more of a Starbucks boy. But, like Quizno's, there were a glut of Krispy Kremes in Boston about a decade ago, and man, I loved those donuts...

I apologize for my part - I don’t think anyone meant to cause you any real trouble. Just that our conversations here can get brutally honest and often then go beyond that. Peace.

TV ADS: THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE UGLY
bostonman replied to samhexum's topic in TV and Streaming services
Meh. Nothing has changed. One of the game show networks runs old black and white episodes of What's My Line and related shows, complete with the old commericals. Some of those ads (essentially for deodorant and other grooming products) are really terrible. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. -
Do You Remember The First Time You Had Sex And With Whom?
bostonman replied to + Avalon's topic in The Lounge
I had mentioned that I had a few little encounters with a friend named Tim when I was 13 or so. Your story reminds me a lot of something that happened with him - I think it was the first time we experienced any sort of intimate touching. And it's probably a moment that led him to try seducing me a few times later on - though looking back on what happened with Tim, it's amazing to me that we didn't go further. One of the big regrets of my life that I somehow didn't encourage him more, lol. Anyway - we're at Tim's house, watching TV on a couch in the basement recroom. It was summer, and we were in shorts, so his legs were exposed. He was sitting cross-legged, so one of his feet (he had sneakers and socks on) was right near me. I'll never know what my impulse was here, but at one point I somehow started working my hand under his sock and just kind of rubbing underneath. Nothing was said between us, no eye contact - and I do seem to remember wondering what the hell I was doing even as I was doing it, lol. But I was doing it, and he wasn't stopping me. Eventually I stopped and took my hand away. And that was it. It could be that he was as surprised by the touch as I was (especially being such an odd choice of places to touch him, lol) and just didn't know how to react to it. Given that we did try to do more fooling around in the future, he certainly wasn't offended by the touch. Maybe he was too afraid of being caught if we started something more, with his parents upstairs. Maybe he just wasn't sure what he wanted. Maybe it's just that we were both 13 and so unsure of ourselves (though I tend to think that Tim was more sexually curious, and possibly more experienced, than he let on). But, it's one of those sweet moments I'll never forget. And I do fantasize about it...always wondering what would have happened if he had encouraged me to rub him some more, etc. (As an adult, I do have a foot fetish. Back then, I wasn't aware of it. But it would have been fun to imagine me getting to explore Tim's feet, lol...who knows?) -

Quite an intrigue, lol. ;-) I'm PM'ing you if that's ok... -

Damn! Did they know about each other all being with you, or was it all secretive? I knew a set of triplet boys in high school - very cute, and assumedly all straight, but I do remember fantasizing about wanting to blow them. And also if they ever at least played comparison games with each other, lol. -

Through my adolescence, I had a few chances to do some simple fooling around stuff with a few neighborhood boys and also a school friend of mine named Tim. (I mentioned Tim in the recent thread about Hugh Hefner, as a copy of Playboy helped one of our sessions along lol.) But - how many of you actually had your first orgasm as the result of fooling around with someone? His name was Jay. He lived down the street. I had just turned 14 and still hadn't cum yet. He was year or two older, but also a bit behind in school. I won't go through the whole saga of how we first got into stuff, but I did get him to show me what it looked like when he shot cum, because I was so curious about it. We'd meet after school every now and then and sorta fool around - mostly j/o stuff, but then one day I asked him if he'd be into experimenting with sucking. I sucked him first for a while - not to completion though. Then he tried it on me. I was laying back on the bed, enjoying his first attempts at giving a blow job. It felt really good. But I also felt really nervous - that kind of butterflies in my stomach nervous - I think partly because I was worried my dad might get home soon and we might get caught. But then that feeling in my stomach seemed to intensify. And all of a sudden, without any warning, I started to pee in Jay's mouth. Except - you guessed it - it wasn't urine. I remember, like it was yesterday, the feeling of two big squirts going right into his mouth, and me feeling powerless to stop it from happening. It was then that he pulled away, and that we both realized the stuff still shooting out onto my torso wasn't piss - it was thick and white - I knew immediately what it actually was. It had finally happened. And it had taken my friend to get it to happen, to the point where he actually swallowed my very first sperm shots. (He was, as you imagine, rather shocked to have done that, but he seemed ok with it, even though he didn't do it again.) But my stomach feeling was also right in terms of my instincts - as I was cleaning up that first load, I heard the car pull into the driveway - my dad was home. We got cleaned up and dressed in lightning speed. I think then we went for a bike ride, lol. Ah, youth... But I will never ever forget that moment when I started to shoot...even though at first I didn't realize it was cum. -
TV ADS: THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE UGLY

And here's the even more annoying modern equivalent to the "black rocket" ads. The uber-pretentious "C A Technologies" guy. Can't you just feel the obnoxious self-importance when he starts to walk away at the end of the ad? What is that shit? -

This LendingTree.com ad - mostly because of that stupid asshole puppet and his needlessly piercing shrill "WHAAAAAAAAAAT" -

But...speaking of ads that didn't really advertise anything...anyone remember the mysterious and meaningless "black rocket?" -

Some of the current ads that have me running for the remote: The Choice Hotel ads - with that fucking idiot who can only say "ba-da-book ba-da-boom" It was barely funny the first time - now they really need to stop this shit. The Ameritrade ads - with that fucking bearded idiot who seems to be trying to do a really bad Colbert impression while he asks people stupid annoying questions. Especially the one with the woman talking about golf. One of the current National Car Rental ads with Patrick Warburton. Now, I've had more than a bit of a crush on "Puddy" ever since his Seinfeld days. And he still looks pretty great. But I really really really don't need him to show me his trying to take out his own appendix. That's just creepy. I also think it's really time to say goodbye to Flo and Jamie at Progressive. Even though he's sorta cute in his dorky, boyish way. But I just think it's time for a new gimmick. They've been at this for a long, long time - and it shows. And, most of their ads don't really seem to advertise anything. -
Some would say Elvis had already done that. Among others.

I'm trying to figure out how I feel about all this. I understand the horrid issue of CTE, but I'm not sure if it's enough to explain away the murder and generally violent behavior. But I don't know...

I just signed up. Damn....:D:D:D:D

And what assumption is that?

So is Kevin Spacey, and yet there was Beyond The Sea, lol. I wish Mr. Malek better luck by far.

Oh, please do get started lol. It would be fun to know... I've been holding off on hiring recently - just too busy with work and haven't been feeling like I really have the finances to spare...but I'm beginning to feel that itch again lol, and I've always had an eye on Sean, so maybe it's time... I would also love to meet Griffin and Nick.

Siblings??? That said, Carly's actual sister Lucy is a fabulous, though much lesser-known, songwriter/composer (she wrote the beautiful classical and folk-tinged score for the 1991 Broadway production of The Secret Garden, among other things), and Carly's first husband (someone named James Taylor) is certainly one of the greatest singer/songwriters in American popular music. As for Neil the great comic playwright, I have unfortunately heard that he is in very bad health - something on the level of Alzheimers or some sort of dementia. Very sad.
