This is may be kind of naïve of me … but if you've hired this guy a couple of times before and there was enough of a connection for him to ask and for you to lend the $500 could "lol" mean "lol, of course its prepaid!" instead of "lol, I took you sucker"?

Did you follow up to find out what he may have meant by lol without reading into it too much. You never can know for sure what he meant unless you ask.

I have been to see him several times over the years, and he is excellent. He gives a deep massage and is generous with his time. He is sweet as can be. In my experience, he is purely therapeutic, but for a great massage at a very competitive price, you can’t beat him. Highly recommended.
