I don’t know if you are an American citizen, but if you are, and if you feel it is still a problem, in many states, you can legally change your name, for any reason, even just “I don’t like it”. If you don’t feel you have a strong identification with your father’s name, and the first name your parents gave you is not something you love, why not consider legally changing it? You have really good writing skills, I think filling in a few forms should be easy for you. That is only addressing 1 of your many points, but it could be a part of the changes you want. It could be a new start, a new job, a new fitness, a new name. A new life.
