  1. Jerome Robbins' Broadway was one of only 2 Broadway shows I ever walked out of (the other was HurlyBurly). I left at intermission, the two people I was with left after the first number in the second act. They should've called it Jerome Robbins' Boredway.
  2. I have a JohnDenver Greatest Hits CD & always liked his duet with Placido.
  3. She bowled us over in TV spots, but now Diana Hunter, the “Honey Bunches of Oats lady,” is retiring from the company — and its commercials — after 40 years. The Honey Bunches of Oats cereal company’s employee-turned-commercial-star, Diana Hunter, is retiring from her factory job in production after a 40-year career. Hunter first appeared in a commercial for the Post cereal brand in 2015 from the floor of the Battle Creek, Michigan plant where she worked. One of Hunter’s co-workers told BuzzFeed that she retired on Friday and that she’s a “good friend that will be missed.” Hunter won over fans with her approachable charm and endearing storytelling. In an Oats commercial she’s featured in, Hunter called the cereal she was working with “sparkle flakes.” “When you taste it, you think it’s a sparkle,” she said. “A sparkle in your eye.” But it was in the first commercial she’s featured in where Hunter spooned her way into households across the country. She talked about how she once had to let someone know the sweet smell in the air around them was actually her. “I get out of work and I got to the store and somebody smells around, ‘Mmm, I smell cookies,'” she recalled. “I said, ‘Oh no, you just smell me. I just got out of work. That’s Honey Bunches of Oats!'” Hunter’s ad – complete with a hairnet and red hard hat – ran nationwide, thousands of times, for about a year.
  4. Nationality and ethnicity? Teixeira was born in Balneario Camboriu, Santa Catarina- a major beach resort town in the south of Brazil. Despite being born in Brazil, Teixeira is not fully Brazilian. Marlon has stated that he is of Portuguese, Japanese and native Amerindian descent. His battle with cancer. Marlon was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus at three years old. He spent four years going in and out of hospitals undergoing chemotherapy. Even at a young age, Marlon was a fighter and kept telling his mother not to cry because he was not going to die. He bears a scar on his chest from surgery as a reminder of the battle won. Growing up in Santa Catarina. Teixeira spent a lot of his teenage years living between his mother, grandmother and aunt’s houses. His mother had remarried and he was uncomfortable with her new spouse. A lot of his time was spent in his aunt’s restaurant hanging out with his cousins. What does he do off the runway? When he is not on the runway, Marlon enjoys travelling the world. He shares pictures of his travels on his Instagram page where he has over 500,000 followers. Among his many interesting hobbies are skating and going to the movies. Teixeira is a self-proclaimed “beach-bum” with a love for surfing. Despite his career in the modelling world, Marlon makes it clear that his passion is the sea and if not a model then he probably would have been a surfer. What are his quirks? Marlon absolutely loves kiwi juice and he likes to listen to music before he goes surfing the high seas. The Phoenix band is his favorite group to listen to. Family? Marlon lost his father when he was only a year old, he was murdered. He has an unbreakable bond with his mother Claudia and has her name tattooed on his right thigh. He bought her a car when he was just 18 years old and sends her money monthly from his earnings. Marlon also has two younger sisters Natasha and Natielli Diet and Exercise. Like any other star in the industry, Teixeira has a few “beauty” secrets for maintaining his body. The model has a very healthy diet made up of mostly fruits, vegetables and grains. His love for the beach ensures that he soaks up plenty of sun while surfing, but Marlon says he also tries yoga and pilates because after all, a healthy body works best with a healthy mind. One of his most memorable moments. Teixeira recalls his first trip to Europe as one of his most memorable. He fondly told the story of receiving his first paycheck of 2000 euros: “It was an incredible feeling. The first thing I bought was an iPod, some glasses Dolce & Gabbana for my mom and a perfume for my girlfriend. For me, some lenses, were outrageous 300 euros. Those 2000 euros were as much, I thought I had reached the top. “ One of his worst moments abroad. Once he travelled to London for a photo shoot and was detained at the airport. At the time he only spoke Portuguese and did not know what was happening. Marlon says he was handcuffed and placed in a cell with a concrete bed, and given only a bottle of water and a sandwich for several hours. Thankfully he was helped by a Portuguese speaking Italian. Marlon still does not know why he was detained as his papers were in order. Because some cop wanted to give him a cavity search.

  8. A Mexican drug cartel tried to slip $1 million worth of methamphetamine into New York and New Jersey by hiding it in wax candles — including some shaped like male genitalia, law enforcement sources said Wednesday. A DEA taskforce tricked a group of drug dealers into delivering the drugs to a Patterson, N.J., warehouse Tuesday, then seized more than 1,300 pounds of meth candles, packed away in 27 cardboard boxes, authorities said. "It's kind of a cross between 'Breaking Bad' and a 'Sex in the City' case," mused one law enforcement source. DEA agents charged five people — a man and woman from California, and three Mexican men in the country illegally — with conspiring to distribute meth, authorities said. They’ll face stiff sentences — 10 years to life — if convicted. The bust came as part of a larger investigation into drug trafficking, and federal authorities believe that Mexican cartels are trying to create a market for meth in the city. “DEA has seen drugs smuggled in numerous ways: concealed in puppies, lollipops, furniture and produce. But secreting a million dollars’ worth of methamphetamine in wax candles of various shapes is shocking,” said DEA Special Agent in charge James Hunt. “This seizure signifies that drug trafficking organizations are determined to create a stronghold of meth users in the Northeast.” Investigators learned about a large shipment of meth coming into the area when an undercover agent met with one of the suspects, Agustin Zamora-Vega, 30, in a Manhattan hotel. The agent showed Zamora-Vega an apartment in Yonkers and suggested it as a place to store methamphetamine, and convert it into crystal meth. Zamora-Vega didn’t like the Yonkers spot — the ventilation wasn’t to his taste, so the undercover agent showed him a New Jersey warehouse instead. The narcotics came into Long Island on Tuesday. When Zamora-Vega and his co-horts loaded the meth candles into the warehouse, the DEA, Homeland Security Investigations and NYPD sprang into action, authorities said. Zamora-Vega and his accomplices, Orlando Alcantara, 33; Cindy Carrillo, 27; Santos Minjarez, 26, and Jose Luis Gonzalez-Solis, 28, were arraigned in Manhattan federal court. Carrillo couldn’t make her $250,000 bail, and the other four were remanded.

  23. Oral sex is producing dangerous gonorrhea and a decline in condom use is helping it to spread, the World Health Organization has said. It warns that if someone contracts gonorrhea, it is now much harder to treat, and in some cases impossible. The sexually transmitted infection is rapidly developing resistance to antibiotics. Experts said the situation was “fairly grim” with few new drugs on the horizon. About 78 million people pick up the STI each year and it can cause infertility. The World Health Organization analysed data from 77 countries which showed gonorrhea’s resistance to antibiotics was widespread. Dr Teodora Wi, from the WHO, said there had even been three cases – in Japan, France and Spain – where the infection was completely untreatable. She said: “Gonorrhea is a very smart bug, every time you introduce a new class of antibiotics to treat gonorrhea, the bug becomes resistant.” Worryingly, the vast majority of gonorrhea infections are in poor countries where resistance is harder to detect. “These cases may just be the tip of the iceberg,” she added. Throat infection Gonorrhea can infect the genitals, rectum and throat, but it is the last that is most concerning health officials. Dr Wi said antibiotics could lead to bacteria in the back of the throat, including relatives of gonorrhea, developing resistance. She said: “When you use antibiotics to treat infections like a normal sore throat, this mixes with the Neisseriaspecies in your throat and this results in resistance.” Thrusting gonorrhea bacteria into this environment through oral sex can lead to super-gonorrhea. “In the US, resistance [to an antibiotic] came from men having sex with men because of pharyngeal infection,” she added. A decline in condom use, which had soared because of fears of HIV/Aids, is thought to help the infection spread. <h2What is gonorrhoea? The disease is caused by the bacterium called Neisseria gonorrhoea. The infection is spread by unprotected vaginal, oral and anal sex. Symptoms can include a thick green or yellow discharge from sexual organs, pain when urinating and bleeding between periods. However, of those infected, about one in 10 heterosexual men and more than three-quarters of women, and gay men, have no easily recognisable symptoms. Untreated infection can lead to infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease and can be passed on to a child during pregnancy. The World Health Organization is calling on countries to monitor the spread of resistant gonorrhea and to invest in new drugs. Dr Manica Balasegaram, from the Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership, said: “The situation is fairly grim. “There are only three drug candidates in the entire drug [development] pipeline and no guarantee any will make it out.” But ultimately, the WHO said vaccines would be needed to stop gonorrhea. Prof Richard Stabler, from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, said: “Ever since the introduction of penicillin, hailed as a reliable and quick cure, gonorrhea has developed resistance to all therapeutic antibiotics. “In the past 15 years therapy has had to change three times following increasing rates of resistance worldwide. “We are now at a point where we are using the drugs of last resort, but there are worrying signs as treatment failure due to resistant strains has been documented.” Is oral sex more common now? By BBC World online It’s hard to say if more people around the world are having more oral sex than they used to, as there isn’t much reliable global data available. Data from the UK and US show it’s very common, and has been for years, including among teenagers. The UK’s first National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles, carried out in 1990-1991, found 69.7% of men and 65.6% of women had given oral sex to, or received it from, a partner of the opposite sex in the previous year. By the time of the second survey during 1999-2001, this had increased to 77.9% for men and 76.8% for women, but hasn’t changed much since. A national survey in the US, meanwhile, has found about two-thirds of 15-24 year olds have ever had oral sex. Dr Mark Lawton from the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV said people with gonorrhea in the throat would be unlikely to realise it and thus be more likely to pass it on via oral sex. He recognises that while condoms would reduce the risk of transmission, many people wouldn’t want to use them. “My message would be to get tested so at least if you’ve got it you know about it,” Dr Lawton said. http://www.bbc.com/news/health-40520125
