  1. Doctors find drugs in rectum of convicted felon being operated on after shooting himself in the groin Things went from bad to worse to weird for a 13-time convicted felon who shot himself in the genitals, then had doctors discover drugs hidden in his rectum while they were performing surgery. Police called to the scene also found meth in Cameron Jeffrey Wilson’s car, according to Washington State news outlet the Wenatchee World News. And he was just getting started. The 27-year-old’s most recent troubles began April 16 when a gun he kept in his pocket discharged, putting a bullet “through his testicles and into his thigh,” according to the report. Not wanting to be charged with gun possession, a bleeding Wilson had his girlfriend drive him to a friend’s house, where he allegedly dumped the firearm before going to an area hospital. It’s illegal for a felon to possess a firearm. What Wilson didn’t drop off was the balloon full of of marijuana that is said to have slipped out of his rectal cavity while doctors were performing surgery. Chelan County, Wash., detectives arrived at the hospital where he was being stitched up to gather information, at which time they also decided to search Wilson’s car. That’s where cops say they found a bag of methamphetamine in the pocket of a pair of bloody jeans Wilson appeared to be wearing when his injury occurred. Police did not arrest Wilson at the hospital, opting instead to issue an April 16 warrant for gun and meth possession, which allowed Wilson to turn himself in two days later. When he did so, police reportedly found another bag of marijuana in his rectum during a jailhouse strip search. Possession of a controlled substance was then added to the growing list of charges against Wilson. A week later, Wilson was also charged with four counts of witness tampering after police reportedly listened in on a jailhouse phone call between the alleged perp and girlfriend, where cops say he told her not to cooperate with investigators. Wilson pleaded not guilty to all charges and is awaiting trial on June 18 on all but the obstruction charge, for which he’ll be tried July 9. Bail was set at $110,000.
  2. A DUI suspect driving in a stolen RV with two dogs on her lap led police on a dangerous high-speed chase through the San Fernando Valley Tuesday night. The recreational vehicle smashed into at least six other cars during the chase, shredding the side of the vehicle's passenger side open. In the middle of the chase, one of the dogs jumped out through the smashed front windshield and ran off as she continued driving. It finally ended when the RV collided into a car in Tarzana and the woman jumped out and fled on foot. Officers quickly tackled her and took her into custody as she was trying to jump the fence of a home in the neighborhood. The wild ending to the chase stunned neighbors of the quiet neighborhood. "These streets are narrow," said Tarzana resident Craig Friedman. "Sure, she was just evading police, but my God, you gotta stop. You know you're gonna get caught." The chase started around 7 p.m. in the Santa Clarita area for failure to yield, according to the California Highway Patrol. AIR7 HD was over the pursuit as the suspect struck a palm tree in a shopping center before continuing. The front end and passenger's side of the RV had significant damage, with the windshield smashed in and the door missing. At several points, the woman was driving up to 60 mph on surface streets. The driver also smashed into several vehicles, including a sedan in an intersection. The man who was in that vehicle suffered six broken ribs and a punctured lung and was being treated at a local hospital. Authorities were able to recover the first dog that jumped out of the vehicle. An animal control officer was able to loop the second dog, which appeared to be injured, at the scene. It was leaving bloody paw prints behind as it stayed by the woman's side. The dog was being checked by a veterinarian. The driver crashed into a white Hyundai sedan in Tarzana and fled on foot with the second dog for a short time before being taken into custody around 7:30 p.m. near Tampa Avenue and Wells Street. Two people inside the Hyundai were injured. The suspect, described as a woman in her 40s, also suffered unknown injuries and was treated by first responders at the scene. She is expected to face charges that include driving under the influence, felony evading and felony hit-and-run. https://abc7news.com/video/embed/?pid=5312019
  3. Female squash stars furious after getting vibrators as tournament prize A group of champion female squash players slammed the Spanish tournament they won as sexist after being given vibrators as a prize. The incident took place after the winner of the Asturias Squash Championship 2019, Elisabet Sado Garriga, received her prize along with runner-up Olaya Fernandez Lence. Third-place winner Marina Arraiza Mier and fourth-place winner Cristina Barandica Fernandez also were given gifts. The prizes for the four included a “Pure Fantasy” vibrator from Durex, a waxing set and an electronic exfoliator for their feet. The vibrator is sold as an “elegant personal stimulator designed to give you sensual pleasure.” The winners reportedly filed a complaint with the country’s squash federation for sexism and discrimination. Local radio show “Ganamos Con Ellas” (“We Win With Women”) posted a photo of the prizes, describing them as “degrading, shocking, harmful, inconceivable but sadly real.” It added that the organizers had “gone past every limit.” Club Squash Oviedo, which organized the tournament, released a statement saying it regretted that the players “felt aggrieved by the prizes.” It apologized for the incident and added, “At no moment was it done from a sexist standpoint.” The squash club at the center of the scandal also has decided not to organize any more events this year. The Royal Spanish Squash Federation passed on the complaint to the Asturian Institute of Women to launch an investigation. Three people involved in organizing the tournament reportedly have handed in their resignations. Squash federation spokeswoman Maribel Toyos said they were only responsible for providing the trophies, not the prizes, adding that what had happened was “shameful.” “It’s the height of sexism. We had no idea the women were going to receive these gifts,” Toyos said. “It makes no sense for the club to apologize but at the same time say the gifts are not sexist.”
  4. Wendy Williams‘ estranged husband, Kevin Hunter, and their son, Kevin Hunter Jr., were involved in a fight that resulted in Kevin Jr.’s arrest early Wednesday morning. Page Six confirmed that West Orange, New Jersey, police are investigating the brawl between father and son but could provide no further comment. Williams and Kevin’s son was released from custody a short time later. According to TMZ, 18-year-old Kevin Jr. and his father got into a fight in the parking lot of a store near their family home over Kevin Sr.’s request for spousal support in his ongoing divorce from Williams. Kevin then claimed Williams was “brainwashing” their son against him. The fight turned physical when Kevin Sr. allegedly put his son into a headlock. Kevin Jr. then punched his father in the nose in order to break the hold. This isn’t the first time the police have gotten involved with the Hunter-Williams family. In April, Williams’ estranged husband called the police on her when she showed up unannounced to their Livingston, New Jersey, home to move out some of her belongings. They eventually agreed to a “fair compromise,” according to the police report obtained by Page Six, that resulted in Williams walking away with her clothing, personal paintings and spare bedroom furnishings. “Mr. and Mrs. Hunter mutually agreed to these terms, and further agreed that the remaining furnishings were to be undisturbed, inventoried, and valued at a later date,” the report read. Their son was a witness to the ordeal. Williams filed for divorce from Kevin Sr. in April after nearly 23 years of marriage.

  6. The Biebs had the best game of his life today, a 5 hit shutout with 15 strikeouts and no walks, although it was against the Orioles, so take it with a grain of salt.
  7. Koala bears have been declared “functionally extinct,” the Australian Koala Foundation reports. The fluffy marsupial is down to just 80,000 wild species members, meaning there aren’t enough breeding adults left to support another generation of the pouched mammals. The tree-dwelling species has been ravaged by the effects of rising temperatures and heatwaves, which have caused widespread deforestation and fatal dehydration in koalas, according to the AKF. Only 41 of the koala’s 128 known habitats in federal environments have any of the animals left. If a new disease or genetic pathogen of any kind is introduced, surviving koalas will die off rapidly. Activists are begging local pols to step in. “I know the Australian public are concerned for the safety of koalas and are tired of seeing dead koalas on our roads,” says AKF chairman Deborah Tabart. “I am calling on the new prime minister after the May election to enact the Koala Protection Act (KPA) which has been written and ready to go since 2016.” There is hope: The Koala Protection Act is based on the US’s Bald Eagle Act, which was successful in rescuing America’s national symbol from the threatened species list. “The Bald Eagle Act was successful because there was political motive to ensure their icon did not go extinct,” says Tabart. “It is time for the koala to be afforded the same respect.”

  13. Marcus D'Amico (born 4 December 1965) is a film, television and stage actor. D'Amico was born in Germany to an American father and a British mother, and was brought up in the United Kingdom. D'Amico has stated a preference for stage acting and did not reprise the role of Michael "Mouse" Tolliver in the 1998 sequel, More Tales of the City. The role was recast with Paul Hopkins (who also appeared in the third installment, Further Tales of the City in 2001). According to the series' author, Armistead Maupin: "Despite the rumors, it is not true that Marcus D'Amico wasn't invited back because of issues surrounding his sexuality. The production team met Marcus and he expressed 'ambivalence' about returning to the role of Mouse. The director felt it was important to find someone who would enthusiastically embrace the role." However, he has referred to his past work on the Tales of the City miniseries as "Exhausting, enlightening and challenging". When asked about fears of typecasting after appearing in the stageplay Angels in America and in the Tales of the City TV series, D'Amico stated in 2003, "I did get typecast in gay roles but it now no longer worries me."
