  1. How about this for a run of dominant starting pitching: Taillon 7 IP, 1R Severino 7 IP, 0R Cole 8 IP 0BB 11K, but 5 runs because of one bad inning Montgomery 6 IP + one batter, 2R JP Sears 1st ML start 5 IP, 0R Nestor the Protester 8 IP + one batter, 1R Taillon 8 IP, 0R, 2 hits Cole 6 IP 1R, 2 hits Severino 6 1/3 IP 4 R, 2 hits Montgomery 7 IP, 1R Nestor the Protester 7 IP, 0R Taillon 8 IP, 1R, 2 hits, perfect through 7 Cole 7 IP, 0R, 2 hits, perfect through 6 2/3 The starter has allowed 2 hits in 5 of the last 7 games, and has gone 6 or more innings in 8 straight, and 12 of 13, with the only one <6 being 5 shutout innings in a rookie's 1st start. Totals: 90 1/3 IP (2 outs short of 7 IP per game), 16 runs in 13 games (9 runs in 2 games, 7 runs in the other 11). They're only 8-5 in those games because of some bullpen & hitting problems. NEXT DAY... This is getting ridiculous. Severino was only perfect through one today, then Miguel Cabrera hit a line drive right to short that went off Kiner-Falefa's glove. It was immediately called a hit. And that was the Tigers' offense (+ one walk). Severino 7 IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 10K, 92 pitches. The last 3 games, the starters: 22 IP, 5H, 1R The last 5: 36 IP, 14H, 2R Judge batted lead-off and homered on the 1st pitch, his 20th in 38 games. Other Yankees to do that: Ruth (5 times), Maris & Mantle (both in 1961). How the New York Yankees' starting pitchers have fared for the past month (May 5 through June 4) and where they rank among MLB rotations: NYY STARTERS RANK Record 15-2 1st Innings pitched 177.2 1st ERA 2.33 1st K/9 9.27 3rd BB/9 1.52 1st Hits/9 6.03 1st HR/9 0.76 2nd Fastball velocity 95.3 3rd
  2. Oral sex sends Florida man crashing into FedEx truck It was a head-on collision — literally. A distracted Florida man receiving oral sex smashed directly into a FedEx truck in Ft. Lauderdale Thursday night, injuring his groin. The unidentified man and his female companion were both found partially naked after the collision... https://nypost.com/2022/06/03/oral-sex-sends-florida-man-crashing-into-fedex-truck/
  3. Matt 'If I Were A' Carpenter has done it again! My nicknames for him have obviously been a good luck charm and I am responsible for this surge. I wish I could give myself an applause emoji. He had become the third man to have his first 3 Yankee hits be homers (Soriano, Higashioka), but he singled tonight before homering. He's 5-19, 4 HR, 3 BB for a .263/.364/.895 batting line. Damn, I'm good. I'm going to run out of nicknames soon at this rate. Oh, and SF Giants SS Brandon Crawford's brother in-law was perfect through 6 2/3. I had nothing to do with that. Last tonight Taillon was perfect through 7. They held on for a 13-0 win. The Yankee starting pitching has been pretty decent recently. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, they became the first team in the expansion era (since 1961) with two starting pitchers working at least six perfect innings in back-to-back games.
  4. OWN A PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY FOR JUST $10!!! America’s final Howard Johnson’s restaurant — a 7,500-square-foot single-story diner, which had sat off Lake George, NY’s Route 9 for almost 70 years — has closed its doors, ending an era for what was once the nation’s largest restaurant chain. It’s also now for sale — and for a price that won’t break the bank. The property is listed for just $10 by a local real estate firm, which boasts the address comes with 70 parking spots and electrical road front signage. A representative for the firm, Exit Realty Empire Associates, told CNN affiliate News10 that the site has seen interest since first going up for lease last December, and initial attempts to sell it started back in 2017.
  5. The cute romantic comedy “Fire Island” takes the story of “Pride and Prejudice” and really amps up the “Pride.” Written by and starring Joel Kim Booster, the film modernizes Jane Austen’s 1813 oft-adapted novel, relocates it to the thumping New York beach vacation spot and makes nearly every character a 30-something gay guy. Elizabeth, Mr. Darcy, Mary, Wickham: They’re all here with new names, colorful tank tops and Grindr. https://nypost.com/2022/06/02/fire-island-review-friends-pine-in-the-pines-in-sweet-rom-com/ I know @E.T.Bass is a fan of Mr. Booster, as are @LoveNDino & @MassageDrew.
  6. A person who helped authorities find runaway jail boss Vicky White and her lover inmate Casey White collected a $5,000 reward from the state of Alabama Wednesday. The state’s finance department issued the reward to a person who “provided valuable assistance to law enforcement in securing the apprehension and arrest of Casey White,” Gov. Kay Ivey’s office said. The recipient has chosen to remain anonymous and officials did not detail how that tipster helped authorities track down Vicky White, 56, and Casey White, 38, during the 11-day manhunt.
  7. This was a public service announcement for @Unicorn There was another shirtless scene with J Lee, like this one from the past.
  8. Matt 'More Masculine Than Karen's Brother Richard' Carpenter led off the bottom of the first today by homering off Ohtani. The game wasn't a fair fight as Shohei (3 IP, 4 R, 3.99 ERA) was facing The Nasty One (7 IP, 0 R, 1.50 ERA). After hitting .078 (4-51) in April, he now has hit in 19 games in a row.
  9. The alligator was caught and euthanized. No word on whether it had the frisbee when it was caught.
  10. Brendan Rodgers homered off Trevor Rogers tonight, in a battle to decide who spells their last name correctly. He then gave the reliever Louis Head something to remember by going downtown on him. Then he won it in the bottom of the 10th with his third of the game.
  11. I'm saving him for upcoming heroics.
  12. Speaking of great real estate finds... 3,400-year-old ‘lost’ city re-emerges from Tigris River in Iraq https://nypost.com/2022/05/31/3400-year-old-lost-city-re-emerges-from-tigris-river/ An international group of archaeologists has unearthed a 3,400-year-old city under the Tigris River in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, they shared this week. The Bronze Age village — erected sometime between 1475 BC and 1275 BC when the Mitanni Empire ruled over the northern Euphrates-Tigris region — emerged out of the Mosul reservoir, on the Tigris in Kemune, earlier this year as drought in the region has caused local waters to recede.
  13. Matt 'Not As Hot As Gay Porn's Cole' Carpenter had another home run for the Yanks tonight.

  17. First entry for the weirdest injury of the year category... Jonathan Villar was placed on the 10-day IL after suffering a mouth injury while working out. Villar had an exercise band snap back into his mouth, suffering an injury that will require significant dental work.
  18. The Ukrainian band which took home the top prize at the Eurovision Song Contest has sold its trophy for $900,000 in order to buy drones to help their native country fight off the Russian invasion. (I know this is political, but posted it here for continuity.)
