A couple of years ago I moved to a house with no basement or attic so lots of stuff had to go. Some went to the dump, some went to the thrift shop. Great read! Number 27. I found my accommodations at at Marriott (platinum member) to be rather shabby to say the least and asked to change rooms. They told me the new room would be ready in a couple of hours and they would do the move. Having nothing to do I sat in the lobby and read. Checked with the desk a couple of times after the stated time and still no room. Having worked in many hotels in my life I was cool about it. Soon the manager called me over to the desk and apologized for it taking so long and said that my room was finally ready - they gave me the presidential suite for the rest of my stay! Being kind and relaxed really paid off.

Sounds like we can an accurate count of "active" members without getting rid of anyone. You never know when a longtime lurker will make the move to be active - it took me about 4 years before I signed up, and then longer before I posted anything.

Thanks for reminding me about that - I wasn't considering the problems that would pose for licensed masseurs.

Agree - Thanks. I found an email in my email account that was a response to a PM I had sent. Also I sent a PM to a member who has not read it - I think it's probably in his email that the forum has on record. I changed my settings at https://www.companyofmen.org/notifications/options/ (which RadioRob mentions above) and have not had a problem since then.

When I click on a members icon a page opens with their information and a box at the top appears that says "write a public message on xxxx's feed". What is a public message and how does it differ from a private/direct message? Thanks

@radiorob also sent this to me: Notifications can be configured at: https://www.companyofmen.org/notifications/options/ You can choose what you receive notifications for and if it's via the notification system or if it's via email. Notifications will work for anything generated through Invision. Meaning old notifications won't carry over, but as you get replies and send messages you'll start getting notifications for anything "new". I was surprised to find a response to a PM in my gmail account and had to change that notification setting!

I had the same problem and @radiorob helped. Open the "Silver Foxes..." thread and at the top on the right you'll see "Follow", click on that and it opens a menu on how you want to be notified, and then be sure to click on the "Follow" at the bottom of that menu. It works for any thread in any forum.

Sorry if this has been answered already - I've looked but don't see anything. There was an option to "watch" a thread and when someone posted to that thread a notification would be sent to anyone who was "watching". Will that be coming back or has it been replaced with something else or is it just gone. And if it's gone then what are "notifications" for? Thanks

Many years ago I was informed that you don't tip the owner (this was related to hair salons). The reasoning was that if the cut was $50 the owner took a percentage of that from his employees but he got to keep all of his $50 and didn't require a tip. Pryor to having heard that I had gone to a salon and had my hair cut, and when I tipped him he declined it saying he was the owner.

Do you know that for sure or are you just guessing? I met with Kerry 5 years ago and it was one of my best experiences. I'm headed to LA in early July and would love to get together with him again if he's going to be around.
