I use the captions but then I feel like I'm missing out on the visual aspects of the show. One of the problems I have in understanding the dialogue is that there is constant music playing. And when did actors decide that it was a good thing not to project their voices - they all seem to whisper and coo their words, which mostly sounds like mush to me!

I went to Sweeney Todd this weekend before opening night. It was amazing - the choreography, lighting, music, singing, really everything! I am a little hard of hearing so I sometimes have trouble with lyrics and some dialogue which I am used to, so I was a little surprised and relieved when I read Jesse Green's rave review in the NYTimes where he wrote that Annaleigh Ashford (Mrs Lovett) was, "often too hard to hear. (Both she and Jordan Fisher, beamish as the sailor who falls in love with Johanna, seem to be under-amplified.)" I imagine they will tweak that. I highly recommend seeing this show if you can!
