I was interested in hiring Mark (SoTe), but the conversation I had with him online turned me off. I decided to contact him through Adam4Adam a week before my trip to Chicago in March so that we could chat instead of exchanging emails. I waited until I knew exactly what my availability was before asking for specifics. He mentioned that he was in Oak Park and could not host but he could drive to my hotel in River North. I asked him how much it would be, and he said:

I had never mentioned anything more than a massage, though it was Adam4Adam. I apologized for wasting his time. Seeing the comments from @Jacque, @Capitano, and @JBrian72 confirms that I made the right decision. There are too many really good therapists in Chicago (see my po#54 in this thread) to pay rates like that to someone who thinks he is the only one.

I inquired about an appointment with Corbin once when he was in my area. He responded, but we were unable to work anything out. Then, months later, I received a text from him out of the blue that was unsolicited. I'm wondering what happened to one of my favorite masseurs from around 8 +/- 2 years ago. His name was John. He advertised on massagem4m. John had an apartment on Geary in the Tenderloin. He had a lean, toned body and skateboarded (he broke his arm and was out of commission for a while.) He only did massages late at night (at least with me.) John had excellent therapeutic technique - he warned me about something weird going on with my shoulder a couple of months before it manifested as a major lock-up. The other extremely memorable thing about John's massages was the spiritual nature of it. It was intimate and sensual. I would schedule for 2 hours and the massages might go for over 3 hours. I think I wrote in an massagem4m review that I might have seen God. Does this ring a bell with anybody? Any chance that you know what happened to him? He was a good guy. He had a German boyfriend. I hope he's living happily in Deutschland.

When I was in my 20s, I often had massages from guys older than I; when I could save up enough money. ($60-$100)

 

All through my 30s and early 40s, I had regulars, with whom I developed wonderful bonds.

 

Now that I'm pushing 50, I have rarely found a 20-something masseur that I would repeat. The prices are very high, skills minimal, and up selling seems the norm. It's as if the business strategy is for a high volume of one-offs, rather than dependable, grateful regulars.

I had somewhat similar experiences. I started getting massage at 25. Most of the therapists were older and eager to play. In my 30's and 40's, I had many pleasurable experiences with therapists, often around my age. Now that I'm older, I tend to look for therapists over 30, although I have been surprised by the interaction I've had with a few therapists in their 20's.
