Forgive my paranoia and hyper poltical correctness, but I read this as implying that Whole Foods has a disproportionate number of Gay and Latin employees and consequently Bezos got a bad deal.

Paging @WmClarke and any othes who own a pair of leather pants.

Something a sub should never say to his Master:

How was I supposed to know I wasn't supposed to put your leather pants in the washer?

(... but then again perhaps the sub did it on purpose?! )

    Dearest Dad,

I am coming home to get married soon, so get your check book out. I'm in love with a boy who is far away from me.

As you know, I am in Australia ... and he lives in Scotland. We met on a dating website, became friends on Facebook , had long chats on Whatsapp. He proposed to me on Skype, and now we've had two months of a relationship through Viber.

My beloved and favorite Dad, I need your blessing, good wishes, and a really big wedding.

    Lots of love and thanks.

    Your favorite daughter,
    Lilly

    THE RESPONSE

    My Dear Lilly,

    Like Wow! Really? Cool!

Whatever ... I suggest you two get married on Twitter, have fun on Tango, buy your kids on Amazon, and pay for it all through PayPal.

And when you get fed up with this new husband, sell him on eBay.

    Love,
    Dad

Yeah, I don't think he's the first person to spend $13.4 billion at Whole Foods.

Not that I don't agree with the definition - just that the phrase has become a very tired cliche. It's also always sounded rather pretentious to me.

In addition to @Kevin Slater's example, when measuring performance one can, in fact, give 110%. For example, if an employee is expected to do 2,080 hours of work per year and instead did 2,288 hours of work then he did give 110%.

It is an old avatar, I do not remember what exactly were the key words I used for a google images search, but it is easy to guess.

You probably think it is new because you are one of our recent great additions. It was my avatar before Trump, and now it is back.

I got a new doctor start of this year, due to changing ACA insurer. He is youngish (later 40s), educated at Georgetown and U of Chicago Hospitals, only present in the practice for appointments two days a week due to otherwise being on numerous national and international medical boards and commissions to improve practice and delivery. In a word, up on all the latest.

He said, matter-of-factly, two things to me:

"We can eradicate HIV in a decade by stopping transmission right now, which we have the tools for."

"Anyone who is active should be on PrEP. It is a very light load on the liver and body, easily sustained by anyone with normal liver function. It should be the norm."

Are we supposed to "understand" other people's preferences? I think accepting them is enough.

I am so happy. I go to my physician to ask if I am covered by my insurance to get into PrEP, as my current contract ends next Friday and I am going to be without health insurance for 5 weeks. Amazing news. I can get it for free. I did not make any research but my doc told me the pharmaceutical company that produces Truvada provides the medication for free, whether or not I have insurance, for certain special cases, like a teacher.

Maybe Pharma is not as evil as I thought.

I was beaten to the punch on this one, but I sort of like its use to reflect what is being done as beyond expectations. 110% reduction is just silly.

One of my minor peeves is 'x year anniversary'. The 'ann' part comes from 'year', so it should be 'x-th anniversary'. I'm not as concerned about expressions like '6 month anniversary' as they denote a shift in the meaning from a yearly marker to a marker of a significant (in the mind of the speaker) amount of time.
