Well some guys just look good, but are not good MTs. Some good MTs are not muscular or attractive (eye of the beholder). There's definitely a crop in LA, San Diego, and San Francisco that I wish were here based on hotness.

But I do think the competition here could be better. Not as many muscular guys here so the more muscle ones stand out when they visit. And I don't think the other guys are pressed to look more athletic than they do. However muscles are not everyone's type so there's that. Clearly they are getting enough money to advertise their business so I take it as that it's working out for them. But they make me think an average guy like me would do ok massaging on the side if priced right.

I'm just going to bump this thread instead of making a new one as it's just an observation ....

I was thinking that there was going to be an influx of visitors for the Super Bowl and there seems to be a few but I'm guessing with hotel prices being what they are, it's not worth it this week. Lol

Maybe President's Day Weekend will be different lol

And that's just from the #massagetherapist hash tag. He used a lot of tags so you can see what he used and browse through the tags. But you can probably put LA or NYC in front of massage or massage therapist and widdle it down.

Ask what products they use. Massage oil? Baby oil? Lotion? Is it scented? Baby oil is super greasy and I'd definitely not like that used on me.

Do they have pets and if so what type? will they be in the room?

    Does he have a roommate?

What time range can you arrive so that you don't run into the last client on their way out?

As for what you can do...

I always text "omw" or "10 min eta" so they'll know to expect me soon. I definitely suggest making sure that you've not had anything to eat within 2.5 hours. If you're the type who has sinus issues you may want to hit the Afrin so that your nasal passages are clear. Lying down can cause mucus to shift.

Also if your Deodorant tends to be super strong you may want to just use a lighter touch. Speaking of which, keep a stick or can in the car in case you do shower there so you can re up.

Most guys prefer cash so if you think you'll want to tip make sure you bring enough. If you don't want to carry cash or don't have time to go to the atm, ask them if they roll the Square/Zelle/cash app instant deposit fee into the price. Some do, some don't.

I actually wish these types of guys would just go to rent men instead of trying to come off as a masseur.

I'm not paying 250 for someone to top me. I'm not that unattractive or out of shape. There's plenty of free peen and booty in Atlanta. But.... I understand that other people may not be in my situation.

What I don't get is that when these 'new guys' show up and have zero reviews, why are they priced so much beyond the average? You should be "on sale" under cutting the other guys until you've got your clientele up imo.

WOW.. same here I mean exact.. I used to not be like that. But finances have changed. I like to stay in the 120-140 range (or less). I'm looking for more on the therapeutic side vs. other. Don't get me wrong some sensual is OK. I just dont want that to be the focus. Maybe that makes me an anomolie on here, so be it.

I saw that many of the super glowing reviews of Maveric on rentmen are multiple from the same guys....It could be they are repeat clients and always happy or...who knows.
But I am curious to see him, thanks to @BeefyDude, @Kinected and @Qmark recommendations.

Pretty much. I have a monthly budget that I'm sticking too and I can get sex if that's all I wanted from someone. I workout, I legit need a massage on a regular basis. Can't really get a decent massage that stays a massage from a hook up app. lol

RIGHT ON... I'm not saying don't charge $250 but dont come off as a masseur...

Sorry but guys who charge north of 150 I really question what is going on.

I know alot of guys like the sensual and mutual touching. I prefer MOSTLY therapeutic so spending that much with money tight these days just aint happening. Then to tip on top of a high right???

Do the math 180 for 60 mins is $3/min - thats high. Also check out their ads - nice table candles etc etc. If they are traveling most will NOT have all that - so theoretically they should be charging less. Also again KNOW your market

Ryan has some clearly interactive pics on his RM ad. He's definitely one of my "types." I can understand not being attracted to someone for extras but to flat out decline someone is a poor showing. I don't even assume that booking him would include extras because apparently he really does have good massage skills.

If they have ads on the RentMasseur and MasseurFinder, I'd be more likely to book. There are also some who show up on RentMen but then I'm thinking they are going to be less massage and more extras which is not want I'm looking for. I think I'd actually book someone from Instragram before A4A again myself.

There's a few that I've noticed were on MM4M before that went tits up or will pop up on RM for a month or two then vanish, then appear again.

@BeefyDude I recall you're in ATL so since it was MLK weekend, there were probably a lot A4A 'pros' in town who were less about massage and more about extras. Which is fine depending on what one is looking for. Most of them come off as tops so even if I were looking for extras, as a verse guy, they really can't do anything for me but a massage and if that's not good...I don't need 'em. lol

I can just say that if this was a job that I was making money on, I'd go ahead and pay the fees that the more pro sites. These guys just come off as too cheap to pay for it and it's hard for me to take them seriously because I don't think they take what they do seriously. They very well could but professional appearance matters a lot. Sure, they have muscles, low body fat, and think they can ride off of that on A4A but.. I'm really less likely to book someone with 'just' an A4A ad.

Just call a thing a thing and get a RentMen ad if you're basically doing 10 minutes of lackluster rub and then it's bow chicka bow wow after that. At least there no ambiguity.

The 160+ range is high enough especially at incall, where on my budget I think you are good if I were not to tip. However I do tip all the time. I just feel like if you're in your own home and I'm paying you 160 already your tip expectations shouldn't be that much because your overhead is not that much. Obviously you've included that in your fee. I haven't spent over 200 out of pocket. Once because I wanted to tip more than I had cash and used my CC and tipped more than I would have because it wasn't instant money for them.

If I were to drop over 200 for a massage I'm imagining we are entering into the full service zone and if that was the case I certainly didn't expect it nor request it so I'd take that as we would have just hit it off well and there was mutual attraction. I tend not to go to guys who are 200 for 90 minutes anyway. That to me reads more sensual than therapeutic and therapeutic is primary for me but I want sensual points as well. I am legitimately sore and need the massage when I am ready to book. I can easily hook up for free.

Anyway, These guys can't have sex with all of their clients and from my understanding most actually don't and sex only happens rarely under the right aligned circumstances. Plus they probably don't want to have sex with everyone considering the range of ages, body types, personalities that they come across. Lol ?

Also... for the most part, masseurs are accepting of Asians. Just because they don’t want to have sex with you doesn’t mean you can’t have a good experience. You can’t go into a session hoping to get a more sensual experience unless it was discussed prior. And if it was discussed prior and the masseur doesn’t ask about my ethnicity, I assume it doesn’t matter to him.

On a few occasions when they did ask and I let them know I’m Asian... they mentioned they weren’t really into Asians sexually but can still give me a great massage. I personally don’t think it’s racism. They’re not baking me a cake or providing me legal guidance. There has to be some level of mutual comfort to get more intimate.

And as I’ve mentioned before... there have been numerous times when the masseur wanted to go further than I did, but I was the one who wasn’t interested. I politely asked him to stop and he continued the massage. It’s all about mutual respect and communication.

Sorry guys, I meant to write I am South Asian (autocorrects to Southeast when I reply via my phone).

It encompasses a lot of groups, but Indian is the largest population in the world and the States.

Funny that the conversation of Southeast Asians came up, because I had a conversation with a Filipino friend and said that even among Asians there is a ranking in the gay community.

Filipinos who have Spanish blood are at the top because they pass for Latino and mixed race. Then the "brown boys" aka the Vietnamese and Thai for reasons stated by other posters. They also seem to be more hung. Then the East Asians -- usually Koreans because they are taller and have more square Western features, followed by Chinese and Japanese. Then South Asians on the bottom.

Unless you are Northern Indian with a fair complexion and light eyes. They are revered on the continent and why you seem them in Bollywood.

I don't see very many Indians, Pakistanis, Nepalese out. It might be internalized fear and cultural stigma. But also knowing you are not seen as attractive hurts. I have one Indian friend who is out. He has a beautiful dark hair and brown skin. The most dazzling white smile. Many people think he is Cuban. And when he tells some suitors he is Indian they change their opinions about him. Nothing has changed from when they thought he was Cuban versus Indian. That, to me, proves racism exists.

It's why a masseur asked me if I am Muslim (there are actually lots of Muslims in India) but it is none of his business and immaterial to the massage. Another said he was glad I didn't smell like an Indian. Out of the dozen or so LA masseurs I've gone to, I would say two were outright rude, and two seemed to have "issues." So that's one third -- not a good percentage. The rest -- the majority -- have been wonderful.

I've already PMed the original poster my recommendations, so I don't feel too bad about steering the discussion off topic.

I'm Asian, I'm not hung, and I'm around 30 pounds overweight. I've hired 4 L.A. area masseurs in total so far mostly based on rate and whether or not they can do outcall to my location. I've had good experiences with 2 of them, and I don't want to hire the other 2 any more because their extras were too much. Therefore, it's absolutely inaccurate to say most masseurs in L.A. are anti-Asian. Honestly, as someone who immigrated here from China, I don't understand how people, who grew up here, can live their life seeing every obstacle they encountered as a result of racism. That's a big turn-off for me in a man of color, actually.

Granted, most of the men I've been with are white, but that's after growing up in China seeing millions of skincare commercials about whitening, hearing how other older Chinese people complimenting white skin, big eyes, and tall noses. Maybe the beauty standards I grew up with are racist, but it wasn't my fault, nor was it any white person's fault. It also f**ked me up too, I have small eyes and wide nose, so I had to grow up thinking I'm ugly. Coming to America makes me realize that there are people who appreciate how I look, and I also learned to appreciate the beauty of people with darker skin: I've had encounters with Latino, black, and mid-eastern men. Therefore, you can call people racist, or you can give them a chance to learn and appreciate you. It's always hard to be refused, but as long as I still have a type, I can't bring myself to blame others for not being into me. Yes, you can always argue masseurs shouldn't discriminate, but we are not talking about masseurs that work out of your chiropractor's clinic, are we?

Great discussions all, but this dude still need to get his body massaged?.
Any kind of body work is sensual, intimate, energetic, you are touching, rubbing, breathing, most of the time nude or close to it, I need a therapist that I can click with energetically.
The way I look at it, we as clients have our own preferences too, we have the benefit to pick which therapist we prefer, we get to scrutinize the therapists before we decide, their skin color, body type, age, etc, etc... Let’s be fair, if we can say no to some therapists for whatever reason, therapists should be able to do the same to any clients for whatever reason as well. I just prefer to know if my therapist will have a problem beforehand. If it’s a problem I that’s fine, I will take my business somewhere else, no big deal.

I'm Asian in San Diego... and for a long-time, I always felt like gay guys down here were more into "Southeast Asians" than Asians... Southeast Asians tend to be darker, and the guys down here seem to like that more. I was wondering if it was because there are so many Latins down here and Southeast Asians are more like "brown boys" (and I don't mean that in a negative way). I'm ethnically Chinese, and lighter skinned than I would like to be

I never actually voiced any of this to anyone... they were just my own private musings. And then I happened to chat with a gay Vietnamese guy, who kind of said all the same things to me... and it felt good to know that I wasn't the only one who thought that.

But overall, I haven't really felt much in the way of anti-Asian vibes from masseurs here in San Diego. It's been a while since I got a massage up in LA, but I always felt like LA was more of a mixed bag in terms of an anti-Asian vibe from a masseur. I just figure it's a gamble the first time, and if I get the vibe, then I definitely don't go back for another appointment.
