Personally I’d stay in the Montrose/Westheimer gay area or the Medical District área on the west side of Houston but those areas of Houston are a bit of a distance from IAH. As @bordeauxfan states Houston is a VAST metro area with some of the worst traffic in the nation. The city itself is nearly 600 square miles. However, if you’re just in the area for a quick over night stay then you’re probably best to stay near the airport. Other Forum members from the Houston area may be able to give you better guidance. This is my experience as a Dallas traveler to Houston. As for Houston providers.....I’m clueless.

Lots of good suggestions in this post. I think funeral homes are required by law to contact the social security office when they are dealing with a deceased person. It’s been a while since I’ve have to handle a death in the family but the funeral home told me that when I was dealing with a family death. Someone who knows more than me will have a more definitive answer though.

I’m an avid genealogist and find obituaries to be extremely helpful in piecing together family histories. It’s a great way to document birth dates, marriage information, children, grandchildren, work history. Older obituaries written in the 1800s and early 1900s can be quite elaborately written. Writing styles have certainly changed.

Somewhat off topic but still pertains to being “fresh”....I have a difficult time being around people who douse themselves in cologne or perfume. I’m sure many people who use cologne or perfume feel like they’re fresh but it can be overwhelming to many. Sometimes they’re just masking poor hygiene habits. Sometimes not. I’ll take a little manscent any day over cologne. However, a clean back door is a must.
