An escort may be a little more transactional, but the basics are the same, an exchange of wants and haves. The problem comes when respect is an issue. Service is better in a store that is nice, appreciative and respectful of the customer. Customers get better treatment when they are respectful, pleasant and pay the price asked. Escorting is the same, it's all commerce.
