Scam scam scam. Thankful for this forum especially for guys new to hiring masseurs who may not know what’s normal and what’s not.

I actually had a provider go for my wallet to get the money while was undressing. Worst experience ever.

I guess I got lucky because it wasn’t terrible... but it sure could have been.

I’ve been getting massages for about ten years now and I love the experience of meeting new guys most of whom (in my experience) want to please and make you feel amazing. Yes there is the occasional “ridiculously bad” experience but the vast majority are acceptable to amazing, with the mind blower OMG experience thrown in there. It’s those surprises that can be exhilarating. But I will say that I have met some of the nicest and most genuine guys on this journey and made some good friends, ones I keep up with and, guys I enjoy seeing when I can. When you can connect physically, emotionally, and even psychically through touch with a masseur it’s amazing, definitely worth the price if admission. The power and necessity of touch in a world that is increasingly electronic and detached makes the whole experience of massage that much more necessary.

I think this subject has been discussed before, but what is your experience with booking a masseur and when you get there he asks for the money up front? I have been getting massages for sometime now and rarely if ever has this happened to me. It seemed weird even though the massage was in every other respect just fine and as per advertised.

So, I’ve seen Chris. Was not a fan. So I may be the dissenting voice here. It’s been a while so maybe things have changed or maybe my experience was atypical.

Yes to so much of the above advice. I love this forum for very practical advice. Where temptation really goes off the rails is when what you are really doing is paying for the excitement and risk of the new masseur with whom you may hit the jackpot. Most of the time (with new guys you don’t know) rhey rarely « measure up to the demands of the temptation and is often disappointment. It’s a waste of time and money. Just remember that horrible moment of walking away from the dude who had no massage skills for whom you paid waaaayyy to much for what was never ever going to be delivered. « Getting a grip » on the urge always helps ?

As far as NYC spas go my experience at Shangrila-la has always been great with either Jorge or Rodrigo.

I’ve had both types of experiences with him. When I’ve seen him, it’s been great. But he is hard to communicate with at times, there are periods where he just doesn’t respond at all and I’m not sure why. It’s not good business practice. Yes to the comment about family in Dallas. But also I know he travels partly for fun and sometimes tries to fit in massages as well and it doesn’t work. That said , he is a cutie and a sweet guy so it’s frustrating for sure.

It has been a few years since I’ve seen him but he gives the best deep tissue massages and is a great guy (at least as I knew him a few years back... he has aged since then, but haven’t we all). I have only once in almost ten years have a masseur ask me to tell him something about Myself before the appointment. He asked how tall I was to see if I could fit on his table. Reasonable on one level but even that sounded strange. Most masseurs don’t ask personal questions in my experience. What I don’t like is the upsell once you get there. That has happened more frequently and I usually don’t comply with additional funds over and above the ad.
