Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr., 1947) was 6-foot-8 by eighth grade and could already slam dunk a basketball in a hoop at regulation height. By the time he entered the NBA at 22, he had reached his full adult height of 7-foot-2, but he began his record-breaking basketball accomplishments well before that. In high school, he led his team to three straight New York City Catholic championships, a 71-game winning streak, and a 79–2 overall record.
