happy that you live in what you call a desirable location, but curious what you mean by "inferior" neighborhoods.
    mind to explain?

Congratulations! Now you know someone who pays less than $3k a month for a roomy (by NYC standards) 1BR on the upper west side.  Maybe I am thrifty since my expenses don’t look nearly as bad as you describe.

And, to be honest, I doubt that many Sugar Babies will be declaring their allowances to uncle Sam so taxes probably don’t come into the calculation.

Dude! You gotta tone down the drama. And stop reading the New York Post. NYC isnt Baltimore or Detroit. I’ve lived here for decades and its not that bad.

Perhaps the craftier sugar babies are taking the train into "work" like so many New Yorkers.

More to the point, "crack dealers" (which i wonder whether or not it is a coded reference to something quite different) want to avoid drawing the attention of law enforcement, not encouraging it.
    just a simple business calculus.

Like I said. You can find that in inferior neighborhoods such as the UPPER-UPPER West side (Harlem) or the UPPER-UPPER East side ( Harlem ) . Your younger friends are leaving out details about the amount of crime they are willing to risk to get a cheap rent. Most adults like to be able to walk home late at night without fear of being stabbed by a crack-dealer.

you speak the truth - once people stop fixating on neighborhoods that are "trending", even though NYC housing prices have been and always will be ridiculously out of sync with most other cities, "affordable" places are there to be found with a little bit of work and some flexibility in standards.
but gone are the days, i guess, of $125 apartments in the east village with the famous tub in kitchen, haha

I keep hearing that, but when I speak to my younger friends, they have no problem finding a sub $3k 1BRs in the upper west side or upper east side. Some even find sub $2k 1BRs in West Harlem or Upper Manhattan.  Most of them dont have a doorman, gym etc, but basically a decent comfortable place.   Regardless, you can live pretty comfortable on $10k a month.

The average one bedroom in Manhattan is more than 3k now . You would need to avoid most every neighborhood in Manhattan except those you wouldn't want to live in. And "midtown" is hardly a desirable neighborhood anyway. At $3k you're looking in Brooklyn or Queens . MY one-bedrooms ,( in a desirable neighborhood) are going for $5k a month and rent within the hour.  It's a bit bonkers here now.

You can still find a nice 1 bedroom in Manhattan for less than $3k, if you avoid midtown.  You can live very comfortable (if not luxurious) on $120k a year. Most of my friends do. (I have insider knowledge since I do their taxes and see all their finances).  🤓

Just watched a Dateline episode last night about a young college girl in Salt Lake City that ended up being murdered by her Seeking Arrangements date (a former military guy).  During the episode it was discussed that quite a few college girls were using SA as an opportunity to earn extra money whilst at school.  Caution should always be paramount for both sugardaddy and sugarbaby.
I tried SA for 6 months or so before the pandemic.  It was a bust for me here in Michigan.  Not a whole lot of my type of guys on there (I like athletic jock-types that are very masculine).  Whilst my profile was very specific about what I liked, I kept getting messages from skinny fem twink types that I had zero interest in.   It's clear they either didn't even read the profile or chose to ignore what I listed as my "likes".  95% of my time on SA was spent sifting through these messages from guys I didn't even find attractive.

I AM that much of a stickler when it comes to body hair.  You can definitely tell the chest is shaved, and thus a “porcupine” or “cactus” feel.  That is something that turns me right off.  It is very rare you find someone that is….naturally smooth.   It’s actually more than that with this guy.  If you zoom on other pictures of his, you can see the shaving that’s done on his frontal part of the body.

We all  have our particular likes and dislikes.  My likes are naturally smooth and muscular.  My dislikes are hairy and/or shaved.

    Let the market decide.
As for being too expensive or thinking he's entitled...  Come on, some of us say "Everyone has a price" and it's collary - "we all pay for it one way or another"
This guy named his price, don't get butt hurt if it's out of your budget.  More power to him if that price works out for him.

Just another "typical" young thing that wants all the perks of life but doesnt want to lift a finger to attain them. I have no idea how this mentality started but in my generation... our generation... high school, college, career and work your ass off to climb the ladder of success. My hunch is the break down of the family unit has caused most of this. I could just hear my mother if she found me pulling something like this..." how could you disgrace and embarrass your father and me like this! Now go out and get a job and stop with these shenanigans"!

The landscape of escorting is much larger than the little picture you are looking at. In this forums the prices discussed are mostly Rentmen standard, not the highest end, but quite high. This forum is not representative of the whole world of escorting, and those posters who are actually "over-informed" know that.
If you like driving, and join a club where everyone drives Ferraris, and you cannot afford it, you do not start bitching about it. Instead, you get a Honda Civic, which is an excellent car.

It’s implied if you feel it’s unreasonable you’re an asshole and should shut up. Hell. Sometimes it’s said…not even implied.
And the question is if it’s the new “normal,” asking if it’s the new relative reasonable expectation. I’ve read little here to suggest that guys don’t think it’s not at least tending that way.
The problem isn’t so much that clients here have a problem with $400/hr. Those of us here are probably over-informed. But the guy who’s just dabbling can be taken advantage of. And that’s unfair. And it says a lot about the escorts here who would defend that unfairness as legit just because the escort can dupe some schmuck. Instead of calling out bad practice of their “coworkers,” they let it fly,  shrug it off, or even will attempt to justify it somehow.

I find hilarious all the whiners complaining about others pretending to be "moral authorities", while they feel entitle to have authority to tell sex workers how much they should charge, or how they should run their business.

Bottom line, not everyone can afford everything.  That's life.  Those who can, do and will.
Don't shit on people who pay less and, conversely, don't shit on people who pay more.  Same goes for escorts and their rates.  If it's not to your liking, just move on.  Have some couth.  Don't belittle.
A lot of the posts on this thread say more about the poster than the original question.

I had a conversation with one guy on here who was only on social security and used to hire quite a bit back in the days of $200/hour and less, and said that $250/hour was the max for him.  He said he hasn’t hired in awhile now because prices have gotten too high for him.
