Like anything else in life, prices change. Also, like anything else, consumers can choose how to spend their $€¥RMB. For me personally, if it is someone I like and want to see again, the price is likely not my deciding factor (first time, it certainly is part of my decision process). Past experience and schedule are 1 and 2. However, I am always happy when repeat providers offer reduced/grandfathered rates or extra time. I feel I generally treat them well, and enjoy them reciprocating as they can or want.

I had someone I had seen a few times reply to a text about meeting with “you are a hole to me” (sic) text. ?. That was the whole message - not editing anything. Full disclosure, his immediately prior text was ”I’m surprised you want to meet again - I though I was too big for you”. (I had never said that to him, he is big, but in a good way ? and I was happy with his size ?). I am now a hole in his budget, but still sad. It’s even hard to share here and it has been over a month. I’m surprised at how disappointed I am. sharing is cathartic (or so I’m telling myself) steve

Well, against my better judgement (I know, how did I end up doing it......?‍♂️, I got lured by some of his old videos ?) and I met him. Needless to say, the wisdom of the crowd was correct. I will not pay in advance or pay a deposit for a meeting or an O/N. And I don’t think I’ve lost any meetings (at least not ones I regret ?). With a guy I liked too much I did pay an advanced deposit once, and happily everything worked out. (he was traveling and I wanted him to change his schedule to accommodate mine and leave a city earlier than he had planned and get to his next planned stop a few days earlier - so it made sense to me to show some good faith and send him a deposit). I will pay in advance for airfare/travel when I ask someone to travel to me. Note - I will pay for the ticket, not give $ to them to buy. And I must say, trusted regulars have generally paid for the travel themselves and I reimburse as soon as we get together (for travel as soon as we meet, pay for time at the end). I agree for extended time a deposit may make sense, but you can Venmo $ when you meet as easily as ahead of time. As has been discussed, it’s a matter of trust, which is why I prefer to travel to him for a initial meetings and only after we have some mutual trust get him to travel to me. as with many things, there is a range of options and a range of circumstances- no one right answer for all cases, but, ceteris paribus, be cautious. steve

I’m old fashioned - I stay at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth (La Reine Elizabeth) - it’s a taxi/Uber ride away from the Gay Village, but a great hotel, surrounded by good places to eat and has a convenient bus to YUL, or in the summer, stay in old town (Springhill Suites).

Absolutely seconded. Alex is worth meeting if you can.
