What’s truly funny is how these ads review how little these guys know about truly affluent men. Billionaires - for whom 50k is just a rounding error in their budgets- will make such different decisions on how to arrange their lives. These are people whose lives do not cross paths with the 99.75%. While we may be able to live well and relatively affluent lives,we can only just imagine those with incomes measured in the 7 figures per week. These ads just make me smile.

The other option (may be simpler, or not, depending on your circumstances) is to pre-pay one year of rent when signing your lease. In that case, no proof of income is required.

I do this. Especially for someone I want to see but have not seen before, I view this as a lower risk option than having them travel to me. If it doesn’t work out, I get a mini vacation somewhere and it feels like less “commitment” (and quite possible less $$) than flying an unknown to see me. In general, it has worked well, but a few last minute cancellations have left me looking for plan b. I probably should get smarter and line up >1 on each trip...... Cheers Steve
