  1. UM's Jake Butt named Big Ten's tight end of the year

Ok, let's review that. The tight end of the year is named Jake Butt. http://www.ourgtn.org/public/style_emoticons/default/LOL_flag-2.gif

Jimmy Fallon worked this into his monologue. Sample joke: Jake Butt was going to celebrate but he was too pooped.

  2. The ability to see where your uber driver is and knowing about when they will arrive is a HUGE improvement over regular taxis. I've had many similar experiences with taxi dispatchers. They deserve to have uber eat their lunch.

  3. So the workaround is to take a (free) rental car company shuttle to their location, almost all of which are about five to eight minutes away from the airport proper. Then you'll see Uber Xs populate all around you in the app. I just did this returning from my recent NYC trip. Easy, fast and less expensive than the damn taxis.

That's a great idea. I thought about taking the LAX airport shuttle out to the Metro Train stop to get an Uber. But I figured it would take too long. The rental car bus idea is good. I guess they don't really check if you have a reservation or not.

Of course, if too many people start doing it they will probably crack down.

  4. he is very much real and I just submitted the review

I'm looking forward to the review. Like many who have posted here I find him very interesting. I'm a little concerned about the "

Safe/bb: Ask me". Did you discuss that at all with him?

  5. Does uber offer tips on the app now? Or was that your guilt? haha

The tip was cash; yes it was guilt. IDK from reading this thread I got the idea you should tip. At least for airport trips. The driver was seemed surprised so I guess it wasn't really necessary. He better have given me 5 stars ;).

The whole thing with legal uber pickups at LAX is in a state of flux right now. Supposedly there was an agreement that they'd start paying the fees for crossing the geo-fence, etc. But that fell through or something.

  6. A comparison of taxi vs. uber for recent trip to/from airport:

    To airport:

    Opened up uber app.

Car arrived within a few minutes and I could follow its progress the whole time.

Driver was pleasant and friendly. He drove like a sane person.

Ride to airport was less than $8 (plus I tipped $5). This was a "pool" ride so I shared the car with two other people. But since I was last to be picked up we went straight to the airport.

    From the airport:

Since uber can't pick up from LAX (I believe), I had to wait for a taxi.

So, I joined the sad queue of tired/cranky people. No way to know how soon another taxi would arrive and how long we'd have to wait.

Wait was bearable. Less than 15 min.

Driver was surly and a pain in the ass. Didn't bother to listen to my directions then complained about the way the GPS took him. He drove like a taxi driver (scary).

    Far was $37 including tip.

uber wins this round. I hope they can make pickups at the airport soon.

  7. I ran across this ad on BackPages: http://losangeles.backpage.com/MaleEscorts/professional-cuddling-outside-dates-platonic-companionship/61362452

    The website looks legit http://thesnugglebuddies.com/male-snugglers/.

There aren't many male "snugglers" listed though and I wonder if the hunky guy, Andrew, listed first may be a fake profile just to catch the eye.

Anybody have an info about this? Would you hire someone just for snuggling and companionship? Maybe you already do.

Personally, I think I'd prefer to pay for a massage from a skilled CMT but there might be a market for this.

  8. ^FWIW I found out a Google Voice number that I use traces to female escorts. I think GV numbers have a lot of turn over; and I was just unlucky enough to snag one that had been used in escort ads. Since nothing on the internet ever really dies so as long as I keep the number it will always pull up old ads if you google it.

That may have nothing to do with the current situation. But I suppose it could.

  9. I took career tests in high school. I don't recall what they said I was suited for but I definitely remember they were spot on that I shouldn't do anything that required visualizing shapes or geometry in your head (like an architect or engineer or something). Oddly, I am good at math and logic but just don't have a brain for design. So no way I could have been pegged for a florist. They probably said I should be an accountant which I was for a while.
