  1. You make impressive choices. Laron Landry http://misterirrelevant.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/LaRon-Pullups.jpg Cameron Wake
  2. The original reads "Absinthe makes the fart grow stronger."
  3. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder."
  4. I'm out. Body piercings of any kind (even earlobes) give me a shiver.
  5. I must be missing a huge piece of the reasoning justifying these exchanges. The time consumed for the back and forth sparring surrounding this one person has dwarfed several congressional filibusters. Is there some fundamental reason for why the detractors of this person cannot just contentedly find another person of interest while this person's supporters contentedly continue their support?
  6. visually, my perfect "cup of tea" but for the "straight" orientation.
  7. If the reporting is accurate, it took the patron a questionably long time to make his objections known.

  13. Being reclusive by nature I enjoy the quiet of the holidays. I politely decline dinner invitations and relax with the holiday television presentations. I don't feel I'm depriving myself because the holiday gatherings over time became very different from the ones I used to enjoy. There are far fewer attendees who are of my generation with whom I can share memories, the young people today speak a different vernacular of English, and, with all due respect and admiration for their hosting efforts, the food just doesn't have the flavor appeal of my mother's.
  14. Anyone else see some Burt Lancaster in this "Ryan in LA" image?
  15. Have you noticed what made its way into the Oval Office?
  16. I wish I could help, but I wouldn't offer my cooking to anyone not on death row. My mother was an apprentice to an exceptional cook and carried it forward. I have emotionally kicked myself many times for not having paid attention while my mother was preparing meals.
  17. Good! More for me.
  18. I'm a leech on this thread as I don't prepare any side-dishes, but I sure have consumed them (sweet potatoes, cornbread, gravy, lima beans, creamed onions...somebody stop me!) . My consistent favorite is the dressing. The most memorable turkey dressing I've ever had was a chestnut dressing. Beyond that, my mother's mince pie. I was the only one in my family that liked mince pie, which kept me in mom's mince pie for a long time after Thanksgiving.
  19. Me too. If I had $90.3 million to purchase that painting, I would still have my $90.3 million.
  20. These days I make conscious efforts to dilute my ire because I really feel the toll of the stresses, but it ain't easy. Our government feels justified in squandering millions for troop movements, fortification materials, and containment housing in preparation for a bogus invasion, but for its citizen victims of the apocalyptic California fires, not so much. There are probably factors beyond my scope, but I just can't buy it. Government furnished and air-conditioned containment tents: California fires tent city:
  21. I have never had to evacuate my home. I try to not think about having to endure that horror under any circumstances.
  22. This present response methodology has to be reworked. The magnitude of the loss of life and property from these all-too-frequent massive fires is apocalyptic. I don't know how financially/logistically prohibitive it might be, but I'm thinking a fleet of civilian and military tanker planes that could/would be dispatched at the very beginnings of such blazes rather than after they are well underway. Within the maze of local/state/federal government bodies there must be a collective wisdom up to the task of dealing with this hellish recurring scenario.
  23. Maybe it's a generational thing. I remember it from a looooong time ago.
