Masking up again in San Francisco: UCSF’s Wachter masking up again: Dr. Bob Wachter, UCSF chair of medicine and a prominent voice on pandemic issues, said Monday he is resuming rigorous masking as coronavirus cases spike in San Francisco. He said the city’s asymptomatic test positive rate, a reliable proxy for community prevalence given the downturn in citywide testing, shows cases are surging. About 1 in 30 San Franciscans may have COVID-19 without knowing it, he said. “If you’ve decided you’re OK getting COVID ... then fine to keep mask off in crowded indoor spaces,” he tweeted. “If you’d prefer to avoid COVID & have become less cautious, it’s time to re-think.” Wachter cited his concerns about long COVID and other virus-related risks (”heart/neuro/diabetes”). I found a good deal on Business Class travel to Brazil, but on Avianca. Researching them, I learned that their Business Class does not live up to most expectations.

What a fucking joke! The $732 airfare yesterday was $1032 today! Then, once you book and get to pick seats, they want you to pay for any seat not in the back of the plane! Unbelievable! I got the two tickets using miles, but even they had risen. I had to use all of my miles for two coach seats...175,000 miles and $130. For a domestic trip!

I checked Expedia to Rio, and did find tickets in Business Class for almost half of what the airline was offering. I also checked domestic trip that I was interested in, and the same flights for which United wanted $732, were $594 on Expedia. Hmm.

I remember when I could remember things! Also, I remember when giving you your receipt after a purchase was an automatic thing. Of course I want my receipt!
