Stag is set for a "soft" reopening this Friday, May 14th. Oregon's governor, "Shut-Down" Katie Brown, has loosened the screws on restaurants and bars, allowing currently a 25% capacity, so Stag will be limited to 30 patrons for now. New owners and management has sunk a ton of effort into an updated remodel, redoing the stage and seating areas. The new manager, Ali, (known as Aladdin in his previous stripper life), tells me he has 25 performers lined up and ready to go opening night- and has altered the focus a bit. A more main-stream, less "alt-emo" type of dancer is the new focus, I'm curious how that will be experienced. While the interior work is ongoing, the club will be closed on Mondays until more capacity is allowed later on this summer. so, six nights a week, and new staffing, might need a break-in period, but we will see.

Silverado, having a kitchen and ground-floor dining area open to the outside, had customers the few times that I've driven past. While the stripper stage in the basement has meant that I'm not yet comfortable attending, I'll have to check the activities soon, once the vaccinations pick up.

The reviews are stored inside of a mySQL database. And yes, there are still reviews being submitted... I see several that all have submit dates in the last 2 months. So the good news is it's not all piled up into an email folder somewhere.

I also found the Admin area for the reviews. I don't have a good way of accessing it because the password is encrypted in the database. I'm going to have to try to figure out what hashing algorithm is used so that I can create an account for myself.

As I've said previously, out of an abundance of caution, I've backed up most of the content on Daddy's server. The first priority was getting the forum itself back online which has been done. I've gotten to the point where I've been able to tackle restoring the review site.

This was MUCH more difficult as there was a bunch of things coded specifically for Daddy's server. I managed to get the data copied over and to import the mySQL database associated with the site. Once I did that, nothing really worked so I had to go look into the code to see what was going on. This involved changing a bunch of files to reflect where files are located on the new server.

It's not perfectly restored (meaning some of the commentary and news links are not fully working), but all of the reviews seem to be working.

    Main Website: https://archive.m4m-forum.org/
    Reviews Based on Location: https://archive.m4m-forum.org/cruise
    Reviews Based on Name: https://archive.m4m-forum.org/search

I do not plan to try and maintain the system Daddy used to run the reviews. It is simply too much to try to manually do. So the plan for now is for the archive to stay as-is for historical purposes. At a later time, I plan to introduce a new review site that would collect the info and allow for a more streamlined method of management. Once it's ready, we'll need some volunteers to help us manually migrate reviews over into the new long-term tool. Once we're ready to do that, I'll post here asking for some help with all of the copy/pasting that is going to be involved.

Hopefully in the next half hour or so, I'll be able to have the main review website redirect to the archive. It's not perfect, but I hope it helps us preserve a vital part of our history.

I was never a frequent poster and my visiting had declined the past year so while I knew Daddy was very sick I just learned of his passing. To all who knew him personally I offer my condolences. To RadioRob, Cooper, and those who have supported the sites in the past and future, I say thank you. And thank you for keeping HB's & Daddy's vision alive as well.

We have moved the forum to a new server as of a few minutes ago. I have not had a chance to work on the review site yet. That will eventually happen. In order to do that, I'll need to setup a different website for daddysreviews.com since we don't (yet) control the domain's DNS settings. I'll most likely set it up temporarily as https://reviews.m4m-forum.org until we can get control of the domain's DNS.

I still need to work on a few other things such as setting up automatic backups, etc. I just wanted to get the site back online ASAP so I took a bunch of shortcuts to get things online and then going back to do the stuff I skipped.

+ WmClarke reacted to samhexum in CHER and the loneliest elephant
Cher’s four-year journey to help save an abused elephant from a Pakistani zoo is documented in “Cher & The Loneliest Elephant” now on Paramount+ and premiering May 19 on Smithsonian Channel.

The special follows the iconic singer/actress’ efforts to rescue Kaavan, a 37-year-old elephant kept chained to a wall, alone, in an Islamabad zoo in squalid conditions. His mate, Saheli, died in 2012 from gangrene caused by the chains on her legs, causing Kaavan to rock back and forth from stress and anxiety.

Kaavan’s plight was brought to Cher’s attention in 2016 through the efforts of animal rights advocate Anika Sleem, who launched a #FreeKaavan social media campaign that quickly gained traction.

“I had been trying to save an elephant here I really loved with absolutely no luck,” Cher told The Post. “Fade out, fade in, some years later…I have to thank the kids — I’m sure not all of them are kids, but I just call them that — on my Twitter site because I would never have done this without them bothering me. It was #FreeKaavan every time I was on [the site] and I kept thinking, ‘OK, if I don’t answer them they’ll leave me alone.’

Kaavan the elephant reaches out his trunk to take a piece of fruit from Cher.

“But they didn’t, thank God,” she said. “My first thought was, ‘I’m not going to be able to do anything [to help Kaavan]; I’m just an entertainer and he’s in Islamabad and there’s pandemic.’ I felt hopeless, but then I remembered a friend I met in Qatar, [musician/activist] Bob Geldof’s manager, Mark Cowne, and just cold-called him. I said something really stupid like, ‘You might not remember me but we rode in a car together and I know you’ve saved elephants in Africa. Can you help me?’ I want to save an elephant in Pakistan.’

“A couple of days later he was there in Islamabad,” she said. “He’s a big guy and he went up to [zoo officials] and said, ‘Take [Kaavan’s] shackles off, put some corrugated metal on top of this bulls–t thing he’s living in, it’s not big enough for him, and put some water in that little pool,’ which they did.”

Cher flew with a small security detail to meet Kaavan in Islamabad, then on to Cambodia to welcome him at the sanctuary.

Cowne contacted animal rights group Four Paws International. Led by experienced veterinarian Dr. Amir Khalil, they were tasked with transporting Kaavan from Islamabad to a 30,000-acre animal sanctuary in Cambodia. It was risky, since Kaavan was in Musth, a periodic condition in which male elephants’ testosterone rises dramatically, causing aggressive behavior. It also necessitated a specially constructed container Kaavan had to be trained to enter so he could make the seven-hour air journey to Cambodia.

Cher, meanwhile, flew with a small security detail to meet Kaavan in Islamabad, then journeyed on to Cambodia to welcome him at the sanctuary.

“I had to make a decision whether I was going to go to Islamabad in a pandemic and not knowing what the people there were going to think of me, or even if they knew who I was,” Cher said. “I was hoping they didn’t know, because then they would know I’m this chick from America who was naked for almost her entire life and that wouldn’t have gone down so well. But I met a lot of nice people there.”

As viewers will see, Cher and Kaavan bonded over a piece of watermelon, with Dr. Khalil close by. “I felt the connection,” she said. “We hung out and sang a real bad [rendition of] ‘My Way,’ which is not a song I think I would ever sing in my life. Elephants adore music; I don’t think people have any idea how the emotions of human beings and elephants are the same. They have compassion and anger and they can reason — they do better with human qualities than we do.

“When Mark first unchained Kaavan he didn’t know that he could move…they’re still getting rid of the burns on his ankles [from the shackles]…and putting all kinds of medicine on them. Can you imagine chaining your dog to something for so long and not letting him move for no apparent reason?”

Kaavan’s trip to Cambodia was uneventful, and he will now transition (in three stages) into living in his natural habitat, roaming free and surrounded by other elephants.

“I watched him when we first got [to Cambodia]. It was night, but it wasn’t completely dark, and I was standing behind the crate when Kavaan had to back out of it,” Cher said. “I watched him walk around the enclosure and saw his back — he was just curious and was looking around, there was not one shake of his head or his body. He wasn’t freaking out or anything.

“And there are girl [elephants] there,” she said. “[Kaavan’s keeper] Derek said he was having some communication with the females and I said, ‘Oh my God — a new house and chicks at the same time!’ You saw him with one of the girls holding trunks. The tips of their trunks are much more sensitive than fingertips.”

Cher said she will eventually return to visit Kaavan. She co-founded an international charity, Free The Wild, with Cowne and his wife, Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne, to rescue other animals in dire straits.

“I’m going to Thailand and then I’m going to stop in Cambodia to see [Kaavan], but not now because it’s too hard,” she said.

Hi, I’ve had the privilege of communicating with some of Guy/daddy’s friends on the West Coast. They’ve known him for close to 50 years. They’ve worked together, lived together, and just hung out. One of them was daddy’s Advocate while he was in the hospital. Needless to say, daddy’s passing had a major impact on them. One of the friends recently emailed me and provided some pictures. He said if anyone is interested to share them. He also wrote about some interesting stories, for example, back in the ‘90’s, daddy officiated at their wedding. Yes, he wore many hats. If anyone would like to see these pictures send me a PM with your email address. For me, that’s the easiest way to do it.

I have just seen this topic. I still don't want to believe it...

It was 2009, San Francisco, and my first ever review was published on Daddysreviews by a long-standing member here. I had no idea what this site was so I went to check it out and shortly after my cell phone rang. A gentleman introduced himself as "Daddy" and told me that my review got published on his website. He asked me a few non-intrusive questions that were geared towards finding out whether the money I make through this means is being invested for my future. Again, and I must emphasize this, he did that in the most non-intrusive way as one possibly could have. I felt that he just genuinely wanted to ensure that I am on the right path to creating financial independence for myself in the long run. We covered a few other aspects of the industry and he offered me a helping hand in case I ever needed a piece of advice.

Soon after my first published review came the second, third --- 20th, and 30th, and my business has exploded and I was full of quality inquiries. Surely, providing a great service doesn't hurt but without the ability for people to research their next "date" on a platform like his, how would anyone know about my abilities?

But business (while obviously in our lives is key) was truly NOT what Daddy was all about. He was in it to help people. Genuinely.

I had the pleasure to meet him on numerous occasions at a variety of restaurants and many times at his apartment in Las Vegas. We even met during the pandemic (the chair was waiting for me at the entrance to sit on) while he distanced himself from me by being in front of his computer on the other side of the apartment and we were both wearing masks. The "HOW" never really mattered, but every meeting with him was always highly insightful and entertaining.... and very genuine. Many of you probably didn't get the chance to truly know who was behind this nickname/website and I am very grateful that I had the pleasure of conducting more than just superficial chit-chats with him.

For those of you who don't know, he was a computer whiz and had incredible talents at forensics and used to be retained as a forensic expert in multi-billion dollar lawsuit cases back in the day. This speaks volumes of the in-depth knowledge he had about certain fields in computers.

Talking about talent, he used to be an escort himself (waaaaaaaaaaay) back in the day. He wasn't always overweight and was rather hot. He told me so many funny stories about providing services in LA/Beverly Hills to some of the Hollywood elites. They were extremely entertaining stories.

He never cared about the money. He went as far as to flat-out decline highly lucrative promotional/marketing/advertising offers if he disagreed with how the company conducted its business in the gay world, whether we are talking about advertising practices, treatment of others, or the mission the company stood for. He was a principles guy, yet - needless to say - non-judgmental.

Every time we talked - without an exception - he had his "routine" questions:
    - Are you happy?
    - Do you put a certain percentage of your money aside and invest it?
    - Do you take time out to have fun and enjoy life too?

This should tell you about the type of person Bill was.

(With names redacted), he showed me all kinds of escort inquiries where the guys offered him free sessions in exchange for promotion/bad review removal/self-review postings. He NEVER abused his position and always maintained his integrity.

He was a big fan of Latin guys with muscles and cute butts. Who can blame him, right?! Yet... never ran out of compliments for me when we met.

We talked about a few side projects of his too. Some of you may not know, but a few years back he was running a website that was teaching the transgender community about proper accessorizing / makeup / wigs and how to start out. He was also running it on his own dime and received no compensation for it.

On my last in-person visit during COVID, we actually started discussing either a joint business venture or a certain promotional opportunity about a website that would have served as an extension of DaddysReviews. We have never finalized the details and sadly, that will not happen anymore. It would have been great to work with him I am sure.

I just want you gentlemen to understand how this person sacrificed most of his life to help our community. He never asked for anything in return and I know exactly how much of his life he sacrificed for others. He changed my life, and probably many of your lives I am certain or the very bottom line, his work made your life a little easier in this crazy world.

I hope that he is in a good place now, his contributions, his helping hand, his guidance, and the amount of care and love he put out for all of us will be remembered (at least by me) for a LIFETIME.

When @Cooper reached out to me, I was shocked to hear that I was probably the only person who knew his address. He was so loving, welcoming and open that I thought he kept company often times at his home. I also would like to take this opportunity to thank Cooper for taking immediate actions and for keeping everyone posted. I am so truly sorry it ended this way. :-(

THANK YOU BILL/DADDY/GUY FAWKES WITH ALL MY HEART! ❤

Like Dante in his Divine Comedy at a certain point in my life I found myself in a dark forest. I was in the middle of a circuitous journey that like Dante’s infamous crooked path had me flirting with the dark recesses of hell itself.

Then I found this site toward the final days of HooBoy. That Daddy kept things going as strong as ever allowed me to reach heights that I had not attained previously. Yes! As in the La divina commedia and thanks to this site what began as a hellish sojourn allowed me to ascend though purgatory and finally get a taste of what heaven had to offer. For that I will be eternally grateful!

I think we should all have someone who speaks to us each day and knows how to reach us , especially someone like Daddy with diabetes.
So if there are any others out there who can go days without speaking to anyone, please make a contact and protect yourself. There may not be a Cooper in your life that will come looking for you if you do not prepare ahead of time.
