Let's consider they are paying airfare and lodging and that's what they usually charge for the same services at home. I guess they do it hoping being fresh and a visitor they'll have more clients willing to hire them. If it doesn't work and trips aren't profitable they'll simply stay back in NYC or fly over to LA, SF, Miami, etc. bit and wealthy cities.
