A 1 hour commute is never comfortable please don't do it again unless he's willing to pay upfront for it. Nowadays there are ways to send a deposit or order an Uber with just a few clicks, something that didn't exist a decade ago. Technology IS your friend, use it! I'm still wondering if he did the prank, or it was a setup by someone else. The fact that he thought the whole thing was funny makes me think he has lots of issues.
