  1. I have this same thought about many people at work who don't see the value of a good subject line in their emails :-) I know I'm more likely to check out a discussion here if the title gives more information (city, name, whatever). I've thought about bringing up this topic before, but just didn't have the motivation to try to push people to do what should seem obvious.
  2. the radio show "Car Talk" continued to be broadcast after the brothers hosting it (Tom and Ray Magliozzi, known also as "Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers") retired in 2012, and still after Tom died late 2014. They stopped broadcasting late last year.
  3. Thanks moondance! I searched for a while to find a picture of Pierre standing by the door watching, no luck.
  4. I was going to congratulate the provider for a great pun of a screen name, turns out it's just a typo :-(
  5. There's a video from early in Pierre Fitch's career, in the VideoBoys days, where he passes the open door of a room where Ian Duncan and Matthew Ryder are having sex; they seem him paused by the door and invite him in. It fits the theme of this so well, I wish I could find an image of that first "Hey Pierre, you want to join us?" bit.
  6. When Heath Ledger died just before "The Dark Knight" was released, I had to believe there were some involved with the movie thinking "This is going to be GREAT for our box office numbers".
  7. I think it was just technical issues yesterday. I was seeing the same thing, sometimes refresh helped.
  8. not sure about this first one, posting as a link to be cautious: https://78.media.tumblr.com/e5d8ba7793537b7a77e9939f14a7c7c4/tumblr_ozmoyf1SKB1wbwyuuo4_1280.png I'm sure this one should be a link :-) https://78.media.tumblr.com/364bebdd2dc4d7f091faa01a395024a2/tumblr_ozmoyf1SKB1wbwyuuo3_1280.png
  9. Trent Locke, he did MANY videos in years past where you can enjoy it all.
  10. A comic book artist was being interviewed on NPR just a few days ago. He said "Nobody ever asks you 'What was involved in the choice of making this character a straight white male?', but when your hero is a black lesbian, oh do they ask that question." :-)
  11. I keep coming back to this one. Maybe it's the insane amount of time I spent fooling around in gym saunas & steamrooms in past years, or that look in his eyes, but ... damn.
  12. My uncle *was* a deadbeat. He rarely worked, when he did find work he'd quit because "they weren't what he wanted to be doing", despite having a wife and five kids. My grandmother (his wife's mother) supported them quietly until she died in the early 80's, and he ditched a few months after that, saying his family would be better off without him. A few years ago I asked my cousin, his daughter, if she knew where he was. "Not sure, presumed dead" was her brief answer.
  13. A friend's daughter tattooed the latitude/longitude of the park where their family has camped every summer since she was born.
  14. I had ZZ9SZA as a personalized license plate for a while - Zed Zed 9 Plural Zed Alpha, the sector of the galaxy where Earth was located, according to hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Unfortunately, it just looks like Zsa-Zsa, which was not only a Gabor sister but my niece's nickname.
  15. I'm quite the opposite. Making Starbuck a woman in the Battlestar:Galactica remake was brilliant, IMHO. Especially since she retained ALL the characteristics of the original; the womanizing (guy-izing), the rebellious attitude, even the cigars. Oddly, though, changing an insignificant characteristic bothers me. Hair color, for example. Matt Murdock (Daredevil) is a redhead, and I think they tried to make Ben Affleck a redhead, but not very hard. Barry Allen (the Flash) has a blonde flattop. he's not a brunette, like Grant Gustin.
  16. They never explicitly stated it but I got the impression Judy was Maureen's biological daughter, from a previous marriage. At a promotional event for the newest Fantastic Four movie, someone asked Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara how they could be siblings - they shot it down with a response something like "That's a really dumb question". I just finished the new season and I liked it. Quite a bit different from the 60's series. I hope they get a second season.
  17. Nothing more than there was a raid, and shortly after that they moved the private dance area up to the front & turned the old private dance area into an open lounge area.
  18. Well, they cut out the complete number where Sir Lancelot comes out of the closet. There were a few hints of him being gay in the scene where he rescues Prince Herbert, but that was it. I noticed some minor modifications of the lyrics. I enjoyed the show.
  19. I have no expectations that it's going to meet the standards of any professional adult show, but it'll be fun.
  20. I just finished "The Friend", at one point the author has her huge Great Dane classified as an emotional support animal to avoid being evicted from her rent-controlled Manhattan apartment. I've considered looking into it, never really seriously though. But I am a font of information about what local businesses and restaurants allow dogs. There's a local place that runs dog rescue events on their patio, and hosts "Dog Dinners" several times a year, complete with a menu for the dogs. I've only been to one of those so far, the owner was wandering the patio talking to the guests and he was so obviously joyous over this event that I plan on attending many more.
  21. I use those often, under very specific circumstances :-D
  22. I'm seeing this tomorrow at the high school my niece & nephew attended. I've seen Spamalot's touring show when it came to Detroit, and am pretty familiar with the soundtrack. I'm laughingly looking forward to what they'll change to make it "The School Edition", appropriate for a younger crowd. I'm pretty sure Patsy won't call King Arthur a twat, but will they eliminate Lancelot's coming-out entirely?
  23. I read the script when they published it a couple of summers ago, and could see that it was written towards some amazing on-stage effects. A friend saw it in London, I would love to make it out to NYC to see it but given my usual lackadaisical attitude towards travel, it probably won't happen. Pray for a touring show that visits Detroit.
  24. @EZEtoGRU I was there Friday about the same time you were. I didn't see many dancers to impress either. They had a big shakeup several months ago, the owner fired a lot of the long-time bartenders, promoted one of the dancers to manager, and I'm not sure if that dancer/manager is still in that role; haven't seen him in several weeks. Some of the fired bartenders are back. It's definitely not the place it was five years ago.
