I saw Vanessa Redgrave's understudy in "Long Day's Journey into Night" on Broadway. She was very good. And Ms. Redgrave had every reason to miss a performance; her mother night the day before.

I am old enough to remember when "Peter Pan" was broadcast live twice in the 1950s with the original Broadway cast. -

Russia had closed the American Consulate in St. Petersburg. I have only visited the city once on my own (for 8 days). It would not be a good place to lose an American passport.
