I am quite surprised that folk on the front lines of the fight against covid19 would have even a modified goodbye party. Obviously, not your doing. Many organizations cancelled parties for retirements. Some still cancel them.

I had great sex with a United States soldier I met in a light infantry brigade in Vietnam 1968, 1969. He left quickly when his mother died. We kept in touch. He has been one of my closest straight friends for over fifty years.
