Sen. Margaret Chase Smith (R-Maine) Four term U.S. Senator (1949-1973) Honored by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) I was only at the Senate when a vote was in progress once around 1970-71. Sen. Smith was the only women in the Senate. Senators walk in, vote and leave. More well-known male senators were barely noticed by the audience. Mrs. Smith (only woman) and Sen. Ted Kennedy were noticed.

With the Donbas Brigade in Eastern Ukraine. Christopher Allen was a 26-year freelance journalist killed in South Sudan almost two months ago. He was embedded with the rebel forces in a civil war. Chris and I were good friends. At times I forget that he is gone and want to send an email to him.
