Oops, now you changed your argument. I thought the problem was the Spanish tyranny flooding US borders with its victims. Perhaps it is hard for you to give up your decades-old anti-communist tropes. Breaking news: we were discussing Madrid's solution to the homeless challenge. Try to stay on topic.
-
Yes? I did not hear about Spaniards running away from their bloody tyranny violating their private property rights. I may be reading the wrong news.
-
You think you made an argument. You did not. The homeless problem is solved. Now you should fix the problem of an unfair economic system that allows people to accumulate wealth they do not need while others do not have where to live or work 18 hours per day and still cannot pay the rent. That is a problem.
-
Your statement does not make sense out of the proper context. No one is saying that they are victims of life. We live in a Capitalist system that is structurally biased in favor of the rich. THAT is the life we are talking about.

The definition of success for a public service includes much more than whether or not there is a surplus or a deficit.
-
Would I make you happy if we call it a "temporary solution?"
-
Oh. So because you do not like this solution, you refused to accept that the homeless problem was resolved. It looks like you have a problem, but these formerly homeless people do not have it anymore.

@solacesoul, I am not saying Rio is safe or safer than NYC. In general, we know that crime in LATAM is higher than in the US and Europe. Of course, if you live in Rio or are visiting, you must understand what is happening and take preventive actions. I have never had an incident in Brazil, not because there is no crime, but because I am careful. I am not advocating for carelessness. I am concerned about this tribal automatic reflex of pointing fingers to vindicate yourself. The level of violence in US culture right now is astonishing. Criminal activities and everyday social interactions are tainted with violence and hate. It is not only American, but I suffer primarily from Americans because of my circumstances.

Yep. You need a break to read and learn what the doctors say. Statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics on Gender-Affirming Care WWW.AAP.ORG The American Academy of Pediatrics, along with its Oklahoma Chapter, are committed to the attainment...

Is anyone watching this sitcom? I just started season 2 and like it. Very useful to understand the new generations.

How many cases of attacks by a transgender person in women's bathrooms have been reported? Ridiculous. I do agree the sports situation is more complicated. That is the one point I can't entirely agree with the trans rights movement. We should have specific categories for FTM and MTF athletes aside from the traditional ones.

No one is tearing anyone down or questioning the legitimacy of anyone's opinion. I found it interesting an association that was made by the poster and I explained why. But I see I stroke a sensitive point. I have nothing against bodybuilders or those who find them attractive.
-
Interesting that you associate bodybuilders with body beauty. They are the opposite of most classical definitions of beauty. Beauty is supposed to be the result of a harmonic balance. Few things are less harmonic than overblown muscles. Of course, that has nothing to do with the attraction many feel for their particular brand of ugliness.

Nonsmoker? Is smoking (tobacco) still a thing nowadays?
+ José Soplanucas replied to marylander1940's topic in The Lounge
Alcohol also has been proven unhealthy. I agree with not putting it on the same level but for different reasons. The fight to regulate alcohol consumption is older than tobacco's, and the interaction with alcohol abusers is as ancient as human history. Tobacco abuse to the heights of a public health crisis is a relatively new challenge. To cut with this addiction, one of the questionable devices has been the stigmatization of tobacco smokers. Eventually, we will get to a place where tobacco will be consumed with as little stigma as alcohol. To paraphrase @augustus, I do not think there is a health issue if you smoke a cig after drinking your coffee or dumping your babies. The problem is compulsive smoking, as it is alcoholism.
