I think I did understand you. That is why I explained that my problem with Puerto Rico is that its prices cannot compete against other South American countries. Those prices you are mentioning are way too high for what I am looking for. Not to talk about every day's life. Sure, living in Puerto Rico is cheaper than Manhattan or DC, but not cheaper than most SA countries.

I know the owner (not face to face), and trust him. I think he is running an honest business, although I am not sure about his business model. I agree with your criticism. I told him that he should force the advertisers to complete a form with more information, but he rejected my idea arguing that he did not want any obstacles that could deter a prospective advertiser who may be intimidated by a form. I am not convinced, but at the same time I think it is a model very appropriated for FESTA/FOSTA times. You should reach out and give him your feedback. If there are many telling him that the information in he ads is too poor, he may listen.

Fragile governments and economies do not bother me, I am Argentine. I love Venezuelan immigration. In my last trip to Buenos Aires I was captivated by a Venezuelan escort. Escort scene in Colombia? It is smoking hot, it is becoming a hot destination for sexual tourism. The lack of direct flight is a good point, but it is very well located for flying all over South America, and in the Pacific coast to fly to Asia. Crime does not scare me, I live in DC. It is indeed the weakest destination in my list. I actually included it because I read that is a trendy destination for expatriates because of the good prices. Let's drop it out of the list. Political or economical instability do not bother me if we are not in civil war or revolutionary situation. I live in DC, I am used to a high crime environment. I will be retired, with an stable income in dollars, living in a South American country in economic disarray may actually play in my advantage, of course if we are not talking about Biafra, or the current situation in Venezuela. Normal, recurrent economical and political crisis like the ones in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Perú, are not a deterrent to my plans. Brazil is a huge question mark. I am excited and curious about my trip to Salvador. There is a chance that next Spring break instead of going to Palm Spring I will be visiting Mexico City. Colombia, Perú, and Rio are also in the list for coming trips. My mother is still alive and I will give her most of my vacation time, but I can start traveling more and explore the surroundings the next years.

I love this. Even when I am a very urban animal, some of my strongest memories involve a deep contact with Nature. As a matter of fact, I still feel the atavist impulse to return to Nature. Before getting more serious about my blog, the plan was retiring to an exurban farm in Argentina. These new tendencies in sustainable architecture have been spreading for a while and I am glad to see they are becoming prevalent. I am waiting for the next step, it would be paradisiac if they start adding small farm animals like chicken, goats, and other alike, to massive city buildings.
