Getting back to the original subject I think it is hard to make a move to another country unassisted. I only moved once for a four year posting overseas by my employer but that was a different matter. I knew it wasn’t forever but a good 4 year stretch appealed to me as sufficient time to get immersed in a different culture and language, although I could speak that fairly fluently already.
