Yes those are all very real downsides of escorting, and for those reasons I try to be my provider's favorite client by being freshly showered & groomed, kind,  pay in cash and include a tip. 

Both serve different purposes, so in that respect I wouldn't say they're equal in terms of both being worse.

I read it a bit differently: more like the apps enabling people with situational horniness and no other mutual requirement- just dime-a-dozen (I think that is what the "trashy" comment may have been aimed at) to meet up relieve each other. Most people can get laid anytime they want without paying for it, it just depends on what standards they have to filter consenting partners. I would understand a provider's frustration when that makes it more difficult to find clients.

The old days were the best, go to a hustler bar or walk East 53rd Street between Lexington and Third in NYC after dark where the trade would be loitering .  Just meet, greet, close the deal and be off to a local by-the-hour hospitality venue.

Yeah I remember when it was just the "Ambulance Chasers" that spammed their cheap-looking commercials on network TV at 3am because the air time was cheap, but beyond that it was word of mouth and reputation that "reputable" firms had client referrals. What a different world we live in. 

I am speaking from my experience as a client even though for the most part I haven't hired since 2017 ( I hired one guy in 2018), and I've had something like 4 erotic massages. But the last one was probably in 2019 or 2020. 
 
So while it's been awhile, and my memory is not perfect, I'd have to say that an awful lot of my hires were same day. If they couldn't host, back then I had a career that I could afford a hotel or motel. Now often once I met them, the escort might become a semi-regular for me.  But still they were often same day appts.
 
Of course if the escort was traveling to my city, then I'd often contact therm beforehand. And obviously if I was planning an overnight or a weekend, I'd set it up beforehand. 
 
But it sounds like because of your daily schedule, where you live or travel, and possibly your expectations of how meetings should occur, that same day doesn't often work for you. But unless things have changed I'm sure there are still reputable escorts who advertise their availability on short term notice. 
 

Being fresh is not always MANDATORY for clients! Quite sadly! The other downside is eventually spending as quickly as possible  what may be considered by some male hookers as DIRTY MONEY!
