  1. There is evidence of body hair being removed by both waxing and sugaring in the ancient world. Egyptian priests, shaved and waxed to remove all their body hair. The purpose was to eliminate the possible presence of lice and fleas which would be considered impure in the environment of the temple. Hadrian had very bad skin and his chin was heavily marked with scars. He sported a full beard to hide his skin problems. Romans who had been largely clean shaven (except during periods of mourning) since before the Roman Republic began to wear beards to emulate the Emperor.
  2. The Ancient Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans did not use soap. Julius Caesar had his beard ( and body hair ) plucked by a body slave. This was emulated by other prominent and wealthy Romans. Most Romans made do with a trip to the tonsor where men had their faces shaved with iron razors with short curved blades. These razors got dull quickly and the result was often bloody. The cuts would be treated with a salve made from spider webs mixed with vinegar and oil. When the Greeks and Romans engaged in vigorous physical activity (wrestling at the gymnasium for example) they would scrape off the dust and sweat with a strigil a curved blade made of bronze or iron before bathing. In Rome, before bathing Romans would have a slave first oil their bodies and then the Slave would use a strigil to scrape off the excess oil and exfoliate the skin.
  3. Exactly as BVB has demonstrated.
  4. It depends on the color brown, the occasion the wearer is attending, and the other components of the ensemble ( shirt color and fabric, tie- or no tie). It can even depend on the coloring of the wearer. A redhead, wearing a dark blue gabardine suit, with a chambray shirt, and luggage brown or saddle tan shoes ( and a similar tone belt) will look great. The warm brown will compliment the blue, and refer to the wearers hair color. As with so many things regarding fashion you have to start with the wearer.
  5. Oh My God, This brings back memories- the "Frieda " in the film with Dakota, was a Drag Queen, and founder of G.G.R.C. (Gay Girls Riding Club). They produced the GGRC Ball which was held at the Hollywood Paladium every Halloween from the 60s until the mid 80s. Out of Drag, Frieda was a beloved bartender at "The Garden District". All About Alice was A film parody of All About Eve. They also made What Really Happened to Baby Jane, and A Roman Springs on Mrs. Stone. There used to be some clips from Baby Jane on YouTube. This is all from a bygone era in Gay History, when there was a real Gay subculture. Something that now is gone. The Paris theater was near Santa Monica Blvd and Vista next door to a Bar called "The Jaguar".
  6. I predict this will be settled out of court as quietly as possible. While I'm sure the Met has all kinds of dirt on Mr. Levine, they will want to avoid a public airing of all the very dirty laundry in the hands of both sides.
  7. I found that pictures of nude men ( mostly in the encyclopedia) gave me a hardon by the time I was around 7 or 8. By the time I was 9 I was enjoying masturbation, both manually and progressing to using ( or abusing) the cracks between the cushions of the leather sofa in the den. When a couple of years later I was ejaculating I had to stop using sofa, and began experimenting, finally arriving at using an athletic sock lined with a plastic bag lubed with baby oil or hand lotion crating sort of a homemade flesh jack. This could be used manually, or with some creative bolstering, placed between a mattress and box spring allowing me to get off while viewing Hercules movies in my bedroom. I never needed any instruction.

  9. This song always reminds me of a man I loved deeply who died in 1984.
  10. Many years ago a friend of mine and I auditioned for a community theater production on Bye Bye Birdie. We got cast ( I was Albert, he was Mr. Macafee). During the rehearsal period my friend began an affair with the handsome young man playing Hugo. Their relationship continued through the run and for a couple of months after. One night the young man came over and tearfully told my friend he couldn't see him anymore. He had begun going to Scientology and had been told that he could not have same sex relationships and get "clear". He seemed heartbroken, my friend was heartbroken. They never spoke again.
  11. Pants were very tight in the 60's (unless you sported the constipated "Ivy League" look). Think of Jim Morrison of "the Doors" singing Light My Fire in black leather pants slung low on his hips. Back in the day if you bought a new pair of 501 jeans, you would get them in the correct waist size, and 2" longer than your usual length. Then when you got them home you'd put the stiff new jeans on, then run a bath with as hot water as you could stand. You would sit in the tub and often used a wire brush or steel wool to distress the fabric while you sat in the hot water and waited for the jeans to shrink to your body shape. When the water cooled you would lay out in the sun and wait for the jeans to dry. If you did it right and braved sufficiently hot water you got jeans that looked like they were sprayed on, and then you never washed them.
  12. Vaux-le-Vicomte is a drop dead beautiful Chateau. It was built for Colbert, the Finance Minister of Louis XIV. He employed Le Notre, LeBrun, and LeVau to do the architecture, decoration, and landscape design. When the house was complete, Colbert celebrated with a lavish party that included fireworks, and a ballet created by Molière. The Chateau was so spectacular that the King accused Colbert of embezzling money from the Crown, and threw him into Prison. Then Louis engaged the same team to design Versailles. The House is a short train ride from Paris (and a short cab ride). It makes a great day trip, and is not plagued by the huge crowds at Versailles, and is more stylistically unified than Fontainebleau.
  13. Put the measuring tape as far up your ass as it will go, wrap it under your taint around balls, then stretch your dick as far as you can with your other hand. This will give you a reasonable estimate for your online profile.

    Cetaphil

Cetaphil is a great facial cleanser. I have used it in the winter when my skin gets quite dry. My sister is a nurse and she suggested it. It does look like cum when you pump it out of the bottle. However, I would not suggest putting it in your mouth. The main ingredient is cetyl alcohol, which is toxic if swallowed.
  15. May the next year bring you every Happiness!
  16. Francesca Hilton had a troubled sad relationship with her Parents. When I was in High School I dated a girl who was a friend of Francesca. They became acquainted when they attended an equestrian summer camp over several Summers. Francesca was heavy, and her mother did not like being seen with her daughter. She said that Francesca was sent from boarding school to summer camp with only brief token visits to home. At camp when the other girls would eat meals, Francesca would be brought salads and cottage cheese on instructions from her mother. Francesca would give money to friends so they could buy her candy. The situation only got worse as she got older. As her mother aged, and tried to preserve her glamorous image, she wanted to be seen less and less with her daughter. Her Father, Conrad Hilton, one of the richest men in the world, left her $100,000 in his will.
  17. The Queen of Outer Space, in which Zsa Zsa played a nuclear scientist on Venus, is one of the great Camp Classics of all time. In it she uttered the line "I hate that Queen". As for Prince Von Asshole- that prick would sell her dead body if he thought he could make a nickel from it.
  18. I think you are talking about Edy Williams she was married to Russ Meyers and became notorious for showing up at the Oscars in a series of wild and tasteless outfits from the 80s until just a few years ago. http://www.edywilliams.com/oscars/index.htm
  19. Costumes are clothes designed for theatrical effect. For example, the Cone Bra that Madonna wore in the Blonde Ambition Tour of the early 90s. That was designed by Gaultier for an outrageous comment on female sexuality on stage. Madonna would not have worn it to a dinner or film premiere (or the Academy Awards). Clothes that reflect the visual environment of contemporary culture, and Enhance the appearance of the person wearing them are fashion. Poor Adam was trying to appear cutting edge and fashion forward. Instead of wearing the outfit, the outfit wore him. Nobody commented about how handsome he looked. All anyone has commented on is how odd his outfit was and how uncomfortable it looked.
  20. The look was unfortunate. It was also not particularly cutting edge. It looked like a recycled version of one of the looks Jean-Paul Gaultier did in the early 1990s. It such a pity, because he is a handsome man and would have made a much better impression in some truly cutting edge men's evening wear from Alexander McQueen, or Vivienne Westwood for example. Instead of fashion, he wore a costume. Fine on the ice, but not on the red carpet.

  22. They played the Poulenc Gloria tonight on the radio. I hadn't listened to it for a long time. My God, what beautiful music. I thought the same thing last year when I heard the composer's Concerto for Organ Strings and Tympani at the LA Phil. At Christmas I heard an exquisite choral piece which turned out to be Poulenc's Four Motets for the Christmas Season. He has become one of my favorite composers. Now I have to see Dialogue of the Carmelites.
  23. I've worked in the Home Furnishings field for over 40 years, both as a Designer, and as a product supplier. Buying online is problematic for a number of reasons. When you look at a product image online you are seeing the color as it was interpreted by the camera that took the image, and the again by how that color is rendered by your display screen. The chance that the color will match the screen image is slim to nil. Also, all color is relative- colors read differently depending on their surroundings. If you are working from a blank slate this may not be of any importance, but if you have to coordinate with anything else, you may have problems. Some online dealers like Pottery Barn, and Crate and Barrell offer swatches and finish samples. You have to pay a small fee, and wait to receive them, but you will have a better idea of what you will receive. If you have a critical color match, and cannot get a swatch or finish sample don't buy it. The biggest mistake I have seen friends make has to do with size and scale, they do not take dimensions into account. Get some graph paper and make a simple floor plan. If it is a big piece ( chair, sofa, Dining Table, etc.) you may want to use a sheet folded to the dimensions of the piece and placed in the space to check how the footprint of the piece will look in the room. A friend recently ordered a sofa on line. It was the same length as his existing piece, but it was 8" deeper. It made his living room look crowded, and overwhelmed the space. Now he is stuck with it.
  24. For several years I had a standing appointment with my favorite escort for 9pm on the night of the full moon. I definitely felt that those tidal forces had an effect on my Libido. My sister is a nurse with a Masters in Public Health Nursing and over 30 years working in Geriatric care. She says that "Sundown syndrome" is very real. It is often an early sign of dementia.
