  1. You're not alone Ichabod. 3 friends of mine are there and they were saying the same thing. They dug Adonis saying there were some diamonds in the rough ... as well as just plain rough guys. They said you could barely get a seat Saturday at Taboo it was so busy and there were a half dozen dancers worthy of a private. Weeknights are never going to be a big thing. They're twink fans so they don't do Campus and Stock. Looking forward to my trip in a few weeks. I don't pay much attention to the incessant doom and gloom stuff on here. A loaf of bread isn't 10 cents anymore. Times change. But while strip clubs still exist, it'll be worth a trip.
  2. Definitely not a LeBoy guy Until recently all of their posts were stock images like that from who knows where. Seems that if it's an actual dancer, they'll caption it as such. This looked to be just a generic hey it's Sunday, isn't this guy hot kind of post. If that's your type, stick to Boardwalk and Johnsons. You'll be miserable at LeBoy.
  3. Agreed. Especially since social media is far more popular with their generation than most strip club customers, who are barely aware of "FaceSpace."
  4. I'm sure they're not looking to spend money, but I'm sure the dancers take better selfies for Grindr. Hell use those. Those clubs don't realize there's a magic to making each dancer special. When you put them in all the same lighting doing the same uninterested pose wearing the same thing... it's monotony.
  5. Totally understand Dicky. Also the photography isn't done in a really sexy way. I'd even have them wear more to tease you to get you to go.
  6. It's entirely possible that leaving it up to our imagination/hopes is better marketing. It'll be interesting to watch and see if this pays off for them. I think when they have a dancer that breaks that Leboy mold for customers like you that probably likes some muscle, it'd be smart to Instagram it.
  7. You'd think clubs would've done this all along. But as much as I criticize LeBoy, gotta hand it to their social media guy (I think it's their DJ). They've been posting photos when a new dancer joins the lineup. I think they could showcase the guys better... some are almost mugshot-looking, but it's a step in the right direction. And it's far less deceptive than using the models they used to find on the internet who've never stepped foot inside the club. https://www.instagram.com/p/BipX_jZF2U9/?hl=en&taken-by=leboytonight https://www.instagram.com/p/BipXhNzlA9X/?hl=en&taken-by=leboytonight https://www.instagram.com/p/BipXaQGFP4d/?hl=en&taken-by=leboytonight https://www.instagram.com/p/Bin1mdBFINU/?hl=en&taken-by=leboytonight https://www.instagram.com/p/BikvmIaFoZc/?hl=en&taken-by=leboytonight https://www.instagram.com/p/BiiKb-oDLjU/?hl=en&taken-by=leboytonight
  8. It's in a separate room but there are no curtains so the only privacy you have is if you're the only one getting a dance at the time.
  9. This thread's getting me psyched... I'm heading up in a few weeks. Like a few of you, I always check out Lux/Adonis/JP/whatever it's called that particular year, just because of that roll of the dice feeling you get when you walk in. The private dance area is far better than Campus or Taboo. (I'm sure Stock's is nice... but I'm not a big muscle guy.) It's usually the most comfortable bar to chill and be close to the action. There's no comfortable seating at Taboo... plus no private area for dances. And Campus you feel disconnected unless you're in the front row... where you almost feel like you're intruding. Many nights at Lux were duds, but a few times you'd hit the jackpot. For anyone who's been to Adonis, is it mostly twinks like Adonis used to be? I can't imagine they'd go that route since Taboo is there... unless they're trying to outdo Taboo.
  10. In Ft Lauderdale, those are your options. I think you'll be a Johnson's fan. Unless you're a twinks guy, your LeBoy visit will be short. But the good thing is all 3 places are within about a mile of each other. An Uber from one club to another is about $6-8.
  11. He wasn't there this weekend, but tbh I wasn't disappointed. I like seeing changeover when I visit. He's a nice kid though. So after a weekend of visits to all 3 bars, Johnson's is clearly the front runner. The guys generally aren't my type, but the overall bar experience is so much better than Boardwalk and LeBoy. Boardwalk just seems to be on autopilot. Same unsexy meathead dancers. As I said, Johnson's guys aren't my type, but I recognize they're good looking and defined. And as for LeBoy, besides a few fun bartenders, they're in a rebuilding season as they'd say in sports... except there doesn't seem to be much effort in rebuilding. The dancer roster is bland. Prices and fees are way too much for the kind of guys they have performing. Few had any personality. They still do the chat with their friends routine instead of working. Music is garbage rap geared towards the dancers and not the customers. I always chuckle when I see rap videos playing while most of your clientele is well into their 60s and 70s. Learn who your fucking audience is. I'm not saying you have to play Bill Haley and the Comets, but come on. The only fun I had at LeBoy had nothing to do with LeBoy. I struck up a conversation with a group of dancers from a cruise ship. All gay dudes and chicks, except for one guy, who as luck would have it, was the stunner of the group. 21ish, beautiful face and abs, toned all over. He is the prototype of what a Johnny's/LeBoy dancer should be. About 140 pounds with muscle and a face that belongs on magazine covers. All I could think of was that line from the Ryan Gosling movie... "Seriously? You look like you're Photoshop'd." I'll honor his privacy but he told me about a TV show he was on and as soon as I got home I did some Googling and jeeeeeeeeezus, he showed me his abs in person but after seeing him perform shirtless on YouTube, I can see why he had tens of thousands of fans on social media, mostly teenage girls obsessing over him. He had a killer personality and appreciated that I wasn't trying to grope him like some customers apparently had. Once I realize a guy is straight, I back off the touchy feely thing. Most gay guys don't. And after an hour, he was the one with his arms around my shoulder and hugging me as we drank into oblivion. So anyway, that was my fun this weekend - and it really had little to nothing to do with the club. So back to Johnson's. Even though there were only 2 or 3 guys my type, it's where I would spend the most of my time if you're planning a Fort Lauderdale visit. The cool plus of its location is you can take a break and wander around the other bars, restaurants and shops in Wilton Manors. Parking is a bitch, but take an Uber anyway. As I said in an earlier post, the guy running the place (Matt?) pays attention to details. The best example: the place smells nice. There was a little too much of the scent, but whatever it is, it's far better than the smell of cigarettes and alcohol that make your clothes reek when you get home. His staff is friendly. Only problem is the waitstaff should be dancing. While there were only 2 or 3 dancers I liked, had the twinks serving been on stage, I'd have had twice as much to look at. But again, I'm aware most like the beefy muscle guys so I get it. Dancers aren't pushy but they engage. Drink prices are crazy low for a strip club. And we've already talked about the simple fair price structure for private dances (which are actually private unlike Boardwalk). And going back to the music, Johnson's gets it. You don't have to play Nicki Minaj over and over all night. Mix it up. Play some rock. Play some 80s. Play some current dance. But play music that appeals to the customers not the kids dancing. Duh. Last tip for other out of towners... I don't know if you already use Grindr and similar apps when you're at home, but download it while you're in Ft Lauderdale. There were many many options there. Many are pretty blunt in their profile about what they're looking for. They'll either say looking for their own age or that they are looking for "gen" (generous). Given the lopsided population of old guys, young guys on the apps tend to be pretty up front in their profile about whether or not they're interested in your attention.
  12. Just saw on the LeBoy Instagram he is apparently back.
  13. I don't think I've ever done a private dance at Boardwalk... maybe once or twice a long time ago. But generally the guys aren't my type. But if I remember, there are no still no curtains right? Those tack on fees are so ridiculous. Johnsons structure is smart for 2 reasons... 1 it encourages the customer to stay longer for another dance since they've already paid for a wristband. That's good for the club and customer. And 2, it's good for the dancers because they know the customer is down for fun.
  14. Not all have the same taste tasso. But yeah if you like 'em muscular, Johnsons is hands down the new leader in FTL. I'm just not into the beefy gym bunnies this Easter. I like 'em thin as a carrot. I wonder if it would be smart business to have nights for my type? I know most on this board and probably most customers overall aren't as into twinks. Maybe Sunday nights or Thursday nights. If he was to have a 50/50 mix every night, I'm sure it wouldn't be the positive it sounds like it'd be. Not many like both types. Stock and Taboo have their specific clientele and it's no different in Ft Lauderdale. But seems like he's tried to keep a good mix at Johnson's. While it sounds good on paper, most instantly will be turned off by half the dancers. So I don't fault the guy for overloading the roster last night with muscular dudes. I'm sure they bring in way more business. But if one night a week was given for those of us who like college age guys, maybe that'd do well. But back to your point about prices and overall experience, hands down, Johnsons wins. LeBoy only gets my (limited) business since they have the monopoly on that type.
  15. Was surprised not to see him at either last night.
  16. Was thinking of a thread last night someone started about the rise of internet and demise of bars when I was making the rounds in Fort Lauderdale. The better looking guys don’t need to waste their night in bars forcing themselves to flirt with old men in hopes of a tip. They can go out with their friends and wait for their phone to buzz to make a couple hundred bucks. That said, Johnson’s is holding its own. The upgrades to the stage in the main room look good. There was only one twink so I didn’t stay long. But for those of you guys who like muscle (90% of this board lol), youve got a pretty good selection. Drinks are huge. Parking is a bitch but it’s best to take an Uber anyway. Place smells nice. The guy who runs it pays attention to details like that. Although his “I wish I was on the radio” DJ voice does irritate me to be honest. What is it about strip club announcers? Could be worse. Nothing irritates me more than when drag queens are given the mic so they can carry on annoying conversations no one wants to hear with one person. LeBoy’s drag queens are notorious for this. As for LeBoy, yikes. That message board thread kept popping in my mind all night long. I would load up Grindr and see plenty of really good looking guys with “generous” or “spoil me” in their profile. But the guys working the club are definitely on the lower end of the scale. Lots of C- guys with one or two B’s. Meanwhile four or five guys on Grindr that were definitely grade A were within a mile or two. When LeBoy first opened, they showed promise. Guys had a unique look when they came out on stage and actually stripped. Stripping at a strip club. What a novel idea. Now they again just spend all night in the same underwear and look the same after a couple drinks. The roster was just really lackluster. No guys that make me want to drop any serious cash. And I’ve vented plenty in previous threads about the overpriced dance charges. Btw I noticed a “2 for 1 VIP” message on the screen for most of the night so maybe they are going to get more realistic about pricing. Doubt it but we’ll see.
  17. Translation to me: twinks? Might be worth a visit again lol. This is why I applaud the guy running Johnsons for trying to appease all tastes in one bar. It's not easy I'm sure. When you have a mix of muscle and twink, half the roster is already unattractive to a typical customer. It's like having an election results party with republicans and democrats. I've only been to SR once or twice, but there were only one or two guys my type. That's why I was curious about Roosters. But next visit to ATL I'll give SR one more try.
  18. Thanks for the heads up about the movie. Doubt it would have crossed my mind to look on Amazon for a swinging Richards movie. LOL. It was definitely no Oscar winner but a fun way to spend an hour. Troy Would definitely make me change my mind about swinging Richards. Wonder how long he lasted at the club.
  19. Just read the Facebook post saying he has a new dancer that looks like a young Ryan Reynolds. No post ever needed a photo attached as much as that one lol. Definitely almost got me to jump on Orbitz!
  20. Ok thanks man! Good to hear. Bliss was my favorite, but Roosters was a close second. They were both great in their own way. BJ's was rowdier and more of a party. But Bliss was definitely sexier. I loved that they were close together.
  21. Wasn't there one other gay strip bar besides SR and Bliss? I forget the name, but always had a good time there. I think it was called Roosters. It was in the same area as Bliss. I only got to go a couple times. Would be bummed to hear it's closed down. I went to SR once and it was fun for the fans of the buffed up guys, but I'm more into college age twinks and muscle twinks.
  22. HAHA love it. I just hate the guessing game... especially when I have a few in me. It's easier to process minutes than songs.
  23. I guess my needs are pretty predictable so I know the time frame pretty well of what I need. Tips I'm sure are an incentive to put some work in. But yeah my giving this advice is a little too late since a lot of the clubs have the time keepers outside the dance area. My strategy worked better before that all fell into place in Ft Lauderdale. Fortunately Montreal is a lot less controlled that way.
  24. I like to take the guess work out of the equation. Whether I'm in Ft Lauderdale or Montreal, my M.O. is the same. I show the time on my iPhone before we go in. I quote a $ figure and a time we'll be done. Have never been told no. The asterisk to this is since LeBoy copied all the other failed clubs and charged crazy $ for the house and the cashier wants a cut... I've stopped doing private dances at the club and just hire for later if I'm that into a guy (rarely happens lately). But counting songs when you'd rather be focused on other things is tedious and distracting. This way you don't have to deal with the shady guys who try to add a song or two to your tab.
