I remember Uncle Charlie's. The old one on Greenwich was more of a hook up spot for 20 to 30 somethings than a place for intelligent conversation. I also didn't know that the name still survives. Personally, I never spent a lot of time in gay bars because in NYC you can meet interesting people everywhere and I've met plenty of gay men in mainstream bars, cocktail lounges, restaurants and even dive bars that weren't specifically a "gay bar". 

Although both countries have had a history of abuse among young providers I wouldn't assume the whole scene is filled with sex slavery. Particularly Thailand where homosexuality is very open. In Morocco, the pimps are providing a degree of discretion to the young provider as well as the client in a country that publicly condemns homosexuality. So I wouldn't assume the providers are frequently doing anything against their will simply becasue there's a handler involved in the transactions..

This is a sobering read from last month. I doubt much prep would be useful. Maybe remembering The Act of Contrition?

It’s all sexual tension 

There’s one thing I  can’t stand is snobbery and one upmanship. People pretending to be superior makes it so much harder for those of us who really are 

Anonymity combined with frustration. It happens on many sites where the poster can hide behind his computer. 
Maybe mama didn't raise us right.
Then again, many of us become downright charming after meeting that special gentle someone who nails our ass to the headboard. (Or so I've heard.)
And as for me, I'll apologize in advance. I can be quite the snark myself. I'm working on being more polite, but it's tortuous.
