A suggestion - if you can't get feedback from the forum, ask a potential hire if you can have a short facetime chat first. I always do that and can usually tell if I want to meet up after that.

I always ask for a short video chat before getting with anyone for the first time ... I've never regretted it but have regretted when I haven't done it. And I don't see why hiring someone from rentmen is safer than from mintboys - we've all read about dangerous dishonest guys on rentmen, and I've met a few very nice and satifying guys from mintboys. Vetting on videocall from either site seems like a good precaution ... not foolproof of course but you can get a lot of information from a short video chat.
