  1. The full-moon-less February thing is wrong. Every so many years we have a February with no full moon because the moon takes more than 28 days to orbit the earth. But 1865 wasn't one of them. 2018 was. Also, it's dependent on your time zone. https://www.wral.com/weather/blogpost/4470081/#:~:text=Gene%2C%20thanks%20for%20your%20question,between%20the%20years%201700%2D2035.&text=Since%20the%20next%20full%20moon,moon%20in%20February%20that%20year.
  2. There's the fact that promiscuous people exist, which there always have been, and the fraction of the population that is promiscuous, which didn't really take off until the 70s. That's an exponential jump in exposure opportunity. There's also the fact that most people who got it died of it in somewhat short order. The long haulers were relatively rare. And people didn't always know WHAT people died of back then.
  3. Nobody is taking the time to collect this data. Doctors aren't putting that in the charts, and patients aren't volunteering it, and the virus is currently too widespread and too many people being idiots to pinpoint exactly where they got it. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence in this case.
  4. You have to remember people for the most part were not nearly as promiscuous back then as people became in the 60s and 70s after the BC Pill and Stonewall. There really was an explosion in the number of transmission vectors. The number of different partners is a huge factor in whether it spreads or not. And while there were certainly some people in all decades who really got around, you still have to have it to spread it.
  5. I almost never see an AARP discount where there isn't also a AAA discount, and you can't stack them, so if you have one you don't need the other for discounts at least. BTW it should be noted that while AARP markets itself to 50 and up, there is no actual age requirement to be a member. So if you're a carless 20something, go ahead and sign up!
  6. You might be better off starting with the Rentmen site, as a significant fraction of those guys have training experience. I would think many would be interested in that kind of gig.

    Shawn Mendes

That's possibly the most unflattering picture of his face I've ever seen. Then again maybe his awkward phase is his 20s. I'm not a twink chaser but when he was 18 he was much more easy on the eyes. That happens sometimes...guys who were hot teenagers look bad by 30.
  8. I find this a lottle concerning. If you really don't want sex or a relationship that's one thing, but do make sure you're not just rationalizing, well, chickening out on life. I say this as someone who has realized that's what he's been doing.

I found him extremely attractive until he got those ridiculous forearm and hand tattoos.
  10. I wish the gyms by me would open up the showers too. I understand steamrooms being unsafe, but showers? WTF?

  12. Meh. Most people, even many of very modest means benefited in some way from the resources of those who came before them when they were young. I have no issue with passing something forward. Plus you need a cushion in case you last longer than you expect. Because it's not like you can just run out and get a job at 90 in most cases(though there are some exceptions).
  13. I just got my first shot and I will continue to wear masks not because I feel so much that I need to for personal protection, but because there's no way for people to tell who's lying about having had the shot and it's going to be months before enough of the population has had the shot to be able to lift the mandates. I view it as consideration for others rather than safety, and I don't want to give the idiots any more feeling of their being justified in not wearing masks. But I will be hopping on a plane in March without any worries about it. And I'll wear the mask on the plane anyway just because I don't want to catch a random cold.
  14. The link requires you to set up an account. Googled him. He was jist fined $3,000 for refusing a post-match interview because he didn't want to wear a mask. So we know he's a fucking asshole.
  15. I liked Pretend it's a City but honestly kind of surprised Netflix went for it. Seems like it has narrow appeal. When Lebowtiz went on about her having no money, it kind of made me think this was Scorsese's way to throw his friend some cash without actually GIVING her money and making her feel bad.
  16. Doesn't Weber still deny he's gay? Honestly these interactions sound like he's a headcase chock full of internalized homohobia and self-loathing, doing basically everything BUT actual sex with the other person to maintain some ludicrous plausible deniability.
  17. Let's be real, Bruce Weber is super sketchy. The whole taking a 16/17 year old boy to live with him and take naked pictures is highly suspect at best.
  18. Are you working? An employer plan will occasionally separate out the prescription benefit from the medical and have it administered by someone like ExpressScripts. I don't think they're allowed to just drop your coverage like that.
  19. I was speaking figuratively when I said 5 minutes. You seemed to have serious negotiations underway within a couple of weeks of meeting other guys. That's as good as five minutes for most ordinary mortals.
  20. There is currently only one generic Truvada. Descovy is a different medication.
  21. I was wondering - do payments for medication count towards your medical deductible and stop-loss? I'm not retirement age, but the way my employer plan works, the deductibles overlap so if I've spent the deductible on office visits/treatments, prescriptions will get covered from first dollar. Likewise, if I hit the stop loss with Rx spending, I don't pay anything more for in-network care the rest of the year.
  22. He falls in love in five minutes and is ready to move people into his fancy home and start paying their bills. the next day Were I young and nubile I'd be considering it....
  23. You forgot a gym with communal showers, and a sauna and steamroom.
  24. "possible" does not mean "probable". It often doesn't even mean remotely likely.
  25. Seems to have suspended his ad for a couple of months now and no updates to his twitter...
